A MASS EXERCISE IN MISINFORMATION-GENERATED IGNORANCE IS UNDER WAY
A mass exercise in misinformation-generated ignorance has taken place across Europe and parts of the USA over the last three weeks. This expertly-devised mass brainwashing event has posed Ukraine as a nation under unwarranted and unprovoked attack. This could not possibly be further from the truth.
Those who chose not to be ignorant when the present crisis began in Ukraine back in 2014 know this very well.
Those who merely went about their business believing it was no concern of theirs and no doubt believing their western political elites had the measure of it were content to remain ignorant of anything beyond this state of mind.
Now these latter wail and moan on cue, directed by every possible politician, media personality, even bank, advertising company, a whole host of conductors waving their metaphorical arms to generate the maximum wave of sympathy for one side and the maximum hatred for the other.
George W. Bush could not possibly have created a more simplistic narrative for the mass herd of the willingly ignorant to bleat over.
Those of us who saw what was happening in Kiev in the winter of 2013-14 and were motivated to dig deep for years thereafter to examine in detail what was going on and the factors behind what was occurring can only smile sadly at the renewed, near hysterical sudden interest many now have. Not to study the origins of the present crisis. Not that. This would involve some dedicated time and some sleuthing, digging under the weight of heavily skewed western reporting and political diatribes. It would in short require too much mental energy and time. No, the only thing they feel required to do is issue epithets against Russia and commiserations toward all Ukrainians quite oblivious regarding the part a minority of Ukrainian played in bringing this whole disaster down upon their nation.
I won’t go into detail here as there is simply too much of it. Save to say that successive political elites of the western powers connived to further the goals of extremely violent forces in Ukraine to bring down the president and government of Ukraine and succeed in those goals. The people of eastern Ukraine who had been instrumental in electing that president and government, realising that their democratic rights were now null and void in their country sought autonomy. The response of those who took over from the previous president and government was to send a military force to teach them otherwise. This was in the Spring of 2014.
The cities, towns and villages of eastern Ukraine, the region known as the Donbass were then attacked using mainly mortars. Their shells hit high rise buildings such as apartment blocks, hospitals and schools. Those that flew past these hit homes, town centres, urban streets, polyclinics, whatever happened to be on their trajectory. Western media and politicians remained dumb but I am sure not blind. 2014 and 2015 were the worst years suffered in the Donbass. Slowly but surely the forces that came from western Ukraine to the east to teach the ‘Moskals’ a lesson were beaten and Kiev sued for peace.
The Minsk Agreements which guaranteed that the Donbass would receive special status and that Kiev would talk directly to the leaders there were never implemented by the authorities in western Ukraine. For seven years not one step was taken to implement them. Instead Kiev rearmed, changed its constitution to say it would join NATO, sought to eliminate the Russian language along with TV and radio stations using it and in recent times jail opposition politicians more favourable to Russia. The Ukrainian president talked of Ukraine becoming a nuclear power again and plans were created for retaking of eastern Ukraine and Crimea by force.
My apologies, I said I would not detail so much here but this is only a little compared to all I could say. In conclusion, just a few words. The people of the Donbass have suffered eight years under siege from the forces of Kiev, not only the national Ukrainian army but also the so-called ‘volunteer battalions’ who use various variations of Nazi emblems and who also give the Hitler salute to one another. The latter see those in the Donbass simply as Russians, calling them ‘Moskals’ and hating them with the same hate as those they revere from Ukraine’s bitterly and grossly divided and divisive past, Hitler’s Nazis.
These are a few of the details that are totally irrelevant now to those emoting about ‘Poor Ukraine’. The level of ignorance of the actualities of the past eight years there is as near total as it could be.
Black and White. Good and Evil. Right and Wrong. All is seen in these terms and no others. For those who have no problem about being ignorant of the facts it is all made extremely simple. Yet of course, no obfuscation of the facts, of the true reality of any such situation can survive forever, or perhaps better said, rarely does. Sooner or later events overtake the fantasies constructed to make things appear simple. This moment of recognition is coming… but will of course be resisted by every elite of every western power that knows if the fundamentals truths and gross mistakes about this eight year crisis emerges, they will be seen in broad daylight as the instigators, major participants and most grossly irresponsible agent of all concerning this ongoing and unconscionable tragedy we see now in Ukraine.
