BEING IN THE NED: THE WAY THINGS LOOK WHEN YOU’RE THE GOOD GUYS

It's okay when *WE* do it.

When you are one of the good guys, things that you say others do that you condemn outright come easy, conscience free, and are in fact seen as wholly laudable enterprises.

You must only believe absolutely that you are working for the benefit of humanity with intentions completely untainted by self-interest.

Then almost everything becomes possible, including bringing down governments.

If those you respect within your nation say it’s right to do so, and anyway you have grown up believing it, then it becomes an unquestionably “good” thing to do, doesn’t it?

The question does not even arise. It is simply a known fact, and acted upon.

Not even an iota of doubt interferes with your certainty. Not even if hundreds of thousands die on occasion. This cannot shake your certainty or conscience. It’s unfortunate. You didn’t mean it. Mistakes were made.

Now... on to the next project.
