FOOTSTEPS ACROSS THE STARS
Part of our world was caving in.
It had been noticed some years before when it first began, but had been regarded as a minor glitch... now however, things were becoming serious.
Tremors were occurring. Solid earth was starting to crumble and a large hole had formed.
And down through that hole a great darkness could be perceived... and within that great darkness, stars.
The formation of ‘Elite Group’ led to major discoveries. These were mainly brought about by the creation of the ‘KMM’ allowing experiments into the building blocks of our universe. It was in this way that we discovered just how many levels to existence there were. Our planet had become a gateway, and the ‘Star Well’, as it was known, was also our means of escape to the ‘Otherworlds’.
The first ‘Otherworld’ we found was the primary initiating force resulting in our widening ‘Star Well’. The lifeforms upon it had developed the means to travel across their galaxy and even reach out to others within their local group. It was our misfortune that they took nuclear fission and fusion with them as an integral necessity for their mode of transportation. Through wormholes they traveled which provided instant travel from location to location but they required nuclear capacity to take them from one to another.
The empire had grown overlarge and had become ungovernable.
The rise of tyrants had been inevitable from the start perhaps, though those who ruled from home had thought all could be contained. The leaping from one wormhole to another had continued like a contagion, at first it had been the desire for adventure and ever new horizons, strange worlds and beings but soon enough it became a contagion of settlers seeking unlimited power.
And every outpost used the nuclear power they brought with them.
Populations rose by active encouragement and by the cloning of millions to serve the elites who had grasped power, retained it from the outset or grew it on other worlds waiting for a chance to expand their empire.
A thousand years passed and saw the lighting up of a million planets across a handful of galaxies within the local group, one of which held ‘Home’ where the migration had originated. On that planet the lifeforms had become insular, having given up the hopeless task of governing the ungovernable. Populations were held down to a level where what was left of their natural environment could be retained. All that could be automated had been. Life was structured in stasis, a solid state of dependability. Those who ran the world were content. Whatever was going on further afield they felt was no longer of any concern to them.
However, they were wrong.
Inevitably it had started through ambition, through the desire for more. More wealth, more territory, more power. Such ambitions have no finite end. And so it was that with the years those who had power succumbed to the desire for more than their own planet could bear. Across one galaxy and then another the fire began. A nuclear fire of warring worlds. A fire that would ultimately be seen on ‘Home’.
Once it began it grew like a chain reaction. Preemptive acts to ensure continuity of one planet spread a frisson of unstoppable fear across all others... until ultimately all were at war.
It took some thousand years more for the fire to reach ‘Home’.
And then ‘Home’ too was consumed.
The fire was unstoppable. There was no mechanism to hinder it.
Ever more powerful weapons were created and used, always using the nuclear twin powers of fission and fusion.
It was this that was to lead to the final fire and to our gateway, the ‘Star Well’.
The final eruption was caused when the fire reached a single black hole at the center of the largest galaxy within the local group. The nuclear fusion device expelled from an exploding planet destroyed by a rival power made its way into the heart of that darkness. The eruption then caused blew away all galaxies within the local group... and over time had now created our gateway with which we could see the devastation caused.
Though we exist in another universe to the souls that perished we can feel some sympathy toward them. Though microscopic in size compared to us we can understand their mentality, one that is foreign to us but known in exceptionally rare cases.
Their universe still provides the foundation, the very bone structure of our own. However, their activities in a minuscule sector of that universe took place in proximity to that section of our own home planet where the well took form.
We must now leave. The hole will grow ever wider... though with it will grow our path of escape. Ultimately our world will be consumed.
The seed ships are being prepared.
We must travel down to the Otherworlds to find new existences across the alien stars we see growing in ever greater abundance below us.
It is time for our first steps from home.
