HOW CAN IT BE THAT THE WORLD IS NOT YET SICK OF WAR?
Who are the elites generating the precursors to war?
There can be few people alive now that have not at some time seen the inevitable results of war. Very few of us will have had direct experience Most of us will have done so only through documentary films or images on some form of media.
The vast majority of us have no control over whether there will continue to be wars or not, only a tiny proportion of us have such influence. An incredibly small proportion of the world’s population decides these things.
This tiny proportion cannot possibly have been sheltered from each and every gruesome image that the rest of us have been exposed to, can they? They surely know what war looks like in truth. Knowing the horror that war brings with it, how on earth can they contemplate letting it happen over and over again?
Surely they are not all sociopaths or psychopaths. Or are they? If they are then we are truly in very serious trouble as a species.
Assuming however that they are not raving madmen and women without scruple, conscience, compassion or integrity... why are wars continuing to occur? Why are families grieving, why are children being raised without their fathers or mothers, nations devastated and entire regions fractured?
Why have we not outgrown such behaviour as a species? Has our common knowledge of the horrors of two world wars and many others since not reached the point where we are revolted enough to rise up and say “No more!” ?
It seems not. Many of us appear reduced to an apathetic acceptance of war, to feelings of powerlessness that render us unable to do anything, to not even protest their continuance.
Of course, the leaders of western nations will doubtless say that powerlessness comes from living in totalitarian states where there is no democracy. But those waging most major wars are elites of the so-called democratic West. The people of the West did rise up at least once to say “Don’t do it!” before the attack upon and invasion of Iraq but were totally ignored by the leaders of the “Free World”, George W. Bush and Anthony Blair. Ironically, their successors point to Russia and China who both aligned with those in western nations saying “Don’t do it!”, saying THEY are the super-aggressive danger to the world. A classic example of the pot calling the kettle black if there ever was one.
It is clear war is still very much with us. And also clear which nations are most inclined to initiate future wars.
After decimating Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Libya and assisting in the virtual annihilation of Yemen... the western world is now waging hybrid warfare against the nations who have most prominently stood resolutely against war, Russia and China. You could be forgiven for thinking the elites of the West have made an industry out of turning the truth on its head.
The elites of the West are engaged in World War Three, the final world war. It is not being fought using traditional methods of warfare but by other means. These means don’t stop people dying however. It has been estimated that forty thousand in Venezuela have died due to the financial restrictions and sanctions laid upon it by a western world so imbued with “humanitarian values”. Iran will without a doubt have also lost thousands due to the same factors. Iraq, even before the attack and invasion that cost hundreds of thousands of lives, suffered pre-war sanctions that accounted for an estimated half a million child deaths as a result of the draconian sanctions regime.
Despite all we have seen of war, despite a western world claiming to be totally invested in the fields of human rights and humanitarian issues, with all consciences honed to be ultra-caring, its elites engage in war as one of the earliest options available.
Afghanistan - Iraq - Syria - Libya - Yemen.
Do you consider there was much consideration given to other ways to achieve the betterment of peoples’ lives than this rapid succession of wars that inevitably led to mass death, misery and destruction? The mentality looks more like that of those who say “Kill ‘em all... let God sort ‘em out!” That this sort of mentality still exists after all humanity has been through in the last two or three generations should make us all shudder.
Where geopolitical ambitions based on nationalistic self-interest overwhelm compassion war erupts. war of one kind or another.
And these geopolitical ambitions, patently and primarily harboured by the USA and UK are the main reasons why the world (or at least that minuscule percentage composed of our elites who generate them) is still not yet sick of war.
