LULLED TO SLEEP BY A WESTERN DIET OF UNREALITY

The people of the western world have been gradually hypnotized by the unreal television culture that had its original source in North America.

Year after year, they were subjected to fantasy rather than reality, and disabused of the idea that THEY were more real than those they were watching through an artificial medium.

In the end, people lost much of their ability to think and feel.

In ex-socialist nations some positive elements of personal character still remain in the majority of minds. This due to the focus in socialist-era times was on reality, person-to-person relationships and individual abilities based on real life lessons and not on a diet of artifice and unreality designed to lull them into an intellectual slumber as in Western nations.

The progressive dumbing down of westerners has allowed their elites to manage activities that in earlier time would have had them howled down and replaced. Reality TV is the ultimate insult to peoples who have previously known life in the round where responsibility, though sometimes onerous and heavy was engaged in as a matter of everyday life. Now most evade this task and instead consider they are entitled to every possible right. In this way those in government have only one task in their eyes, to please them and provide for them then leave them alone to immerse themselves in self-interest.

Western governments have largely been able to do as they liked apart from attempting to see to the materialistic needs of their otherwise engaged flock. Perpetrating mass murder across the world has been accomplished with only a minimal degree of protest (unlike in the Sixties when war and development of nuclear weapons were protested vigorously). Most westerners now simply want to find their pleasure in whatever shallow and mindless pursuits they are offered. And they are offered many. Roman citizens were given bread and circuses to keep them docile and manipulable, westerners have reality TV, pseudo-celebrities and sports along with an inclination to eat themselves obese and trawl the mall for the latest electro-trinkets.

Some who earlier might have cared enough to protest, seeing the lack of it now throw their hands up in despair and join the others in McDonalds recognizing correctly that nothing can any longer be done while such apathy, lethargy and mindless grazing habits rule.

The western sheep barely look up from the new forms of grass provided them. The fat pigs hardly need to use their legs anymore and find it increasingly hard to lift their heads from their over-filled troughs. But dark clouds have recently appeared on the horizon and have now appeared not that far distant from their cocooned farmyards where they enjoy a largely mindless existence.

It isn’t a traditional malaise such as foot and mouth disease or swine flu that has woken these barely human beasts from their slumbers this time. They have been dropping like flies due to the inroads of their product suppliers into what was the natural animal kingdom of their forebears. Each day, week, month and year of the recent past those who supply their supermarkets and shopping malls have made roads and created infrastructure encroaching into virgin land, pipelines have been laid, homes for the human sheep built along with entertainment complexes and shop after shop after shop. Green pastures are turned into grey and black, tarmac and cement deserts, rain forests are bulldozed, canals and dams redesign and minimize water courses. All to please and keep the humans happy and contented, assured of their sanitized safety, cocooned in their media world where ersatz glamor and dumbdown-fodder abound.

A virus has arrived born of human interaction with nature through endless destructive constructive development to bring a sudden awakening to a vulnerability that the human hordes of the West had been lulled into thinking was a thing of the past. Didn’t everything they saw on their TV screen end well? Didn’t the entire panoply of western materialism convey the assurance that all bases were covered and just keep spending, all’s well in the best possible of all worlds? Don’t worry... if everything is being taken care of. Indulge your fantasies. Enjoy. Nothing bad can happen in this clean, sanitized world for you here in the West.

But it did. And it continues. Covid-19 has not completed its awakening process yet, the progressive enlightenment that disaster is not distant but can appear at any moment to horror you out of your dozing delirium of unreality.

And while the western world sleeps its elites do as they please. The mass murders go on with hardly a murmer. An armory of dirty tricks to generate chaos to weaken those who may compete in the open market to satisfy westerners’ appetites are used with impunity. A war is waged and hardly a whisper is heard. Western elites push forward in their own newfound irresponsibility, seeking a complete dominance that is rapidly eluding their grasp. Diplomacy is dispensed with as increasing desperation sets in. China must be brought to her knees before she stand over elite American heads and those of her allies. Terror is in elite western hearts. Their many geopolitical drugs of choice are becoming increasingly unavailable. The old strongarm methods and big sticks they used to threaten others with are no longer the potent symbol of imminent danger to others they once were.

The power-junkies of the western world are losing their fix. They are starting to experience the unbearable pain of loss. Loss of prestige, of privilege, of manipulative power to get what you want or stop what you don’t. Their entire self-view and lofty status is in peril in a slow death of influence as China grows her economy and the inevitable growth of influence attendant to it.

Concurrently individuals within western society are beginning to look up from their long sleep realizing how long-lasting have been the inequities and malign forces with their societies, in the behavior of their elites and above all the fast oncoming complete failure of their hyper-capitalist systems to deliver what was promised.

The main promise offered by hyper-capitalism is encapsulated in the concept of 'The American Dream’. The promise of a wonderful life as long as you worked hard, accepted the capitalist lifestyle and all precepts attendant to it, kept your head down, didn’t rock the boat, were obedient to the strictures of the system, observed of the law, dedicated yourself to support all known authorities, salute the flag constantly and love the military. The foundations of this top heavy structure of mindless obedience is collapsing.

And it is collapsing upon the vast majority of westerners who are still fast asleep, lulled into a state of unconsciousness by a western diet of unreality.
