Two decades and more ago Russia was struggling to climb up from the state of chaos and downward plummeting that was the Yeltsin era. Of all the candidates to replace him that Yeltsin investigated there was one that though diminutive in physical size more than made up for that in terms of his character.

I have been a fan of Mr Putin ever since I did my own searches and assessment of his character from delving into his history. Or should I say Dr Putin with his PhD in Economics as well as his degree in International Relations capping off his law degree?
It's not only Russia that is very lucky to have him in such a historical moment. His choices for administration too, from Shoigu to the master diplomat Lavrov, and of course the indomitable and oh-so very-lovely Maria Zakharova. That public trio is a formidable face of Russia's strength of character right there. A perfect complement to Mr Putin's quiet and unassuming efficiency.
