The French president wants to conquer Russia just as the two European dictators aspired to, Moscow’s foreign minister has said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has compared French President Emmanuel Macron to Adolf Hitler and Napoleon Bonaparte, saying that he is also looking to impose a defeat upon Russia.
During an address to the nation on Wednesday, Macron labeled Russia a “threat to France and Europe” and announced that he was considering expanding Paris’s nuclear deterrent to cover other EU member states.
He insisted that the bloc needs to strengthen its independence when it comes to defense as there are doubts about the US continuing to protect the EU after the administration of President Donald Trump “changed its position” on the Ukraine conflict and became “less supportive” of Kiev. The French president insisted on further assistance to the government of Vladimir Zelensky, claiming that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not stop if he is allowed to defeat Ukraine.
When asked to comment on Macron’s statements by journalists on Thursday, Lavrov mentioned Hitler and Napoleon, describing them as the French president’s “predecessors, who also wanted to fight Russia.” The two European dictators sent their armies into Russia in 1812 and 1941, respectively, but ended up suffering crushing defeats.

The difference is that Hitler and Napoleon “said directly: ‘We must conquer Russia, we must defeat Russia.’ And he [Macron], apparently, wants the same thing, but for some reason says that we must fight Russia so that it does not defeat France; that Russia is creating a threat to France and Europe,” he stressed.
The minister refuted the French leader’s claims that Moscow has plans to attack Western Europe, calling such notions “unreasonable.”
“President [Vladimir] Putin has said many times that this is absolute nonsense. I think that any sane person would understand that [by launching its military operation] Russia only wants to eliminate the root causes of the situation created by the West in Ukraine,” he explained.
Lavrov also said that Moscow views Macron’s statement about widening France’s nuclear umbrella as a “threat towards Russia.”
“If he considers us a threat, if he is calls a meeting of the chiefs of staff of the [Western] European countries and Britain; if he says that it is necessary to use nuclear weapons; if he prepares to use nuclear weapons against Russia – this is, of course, a threat,” he insisted.

Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the French president’s speech as “highly confrontational,” saying that it has shown that France does not want peace, but “is thinking more about war, about the continuation of the conflict.”

Even though Zelensky cut direct Russian gas supplies, his regime has to buy gas transiting to Slovakia, Blaha pointed out.
“When there was a direct transit to Ukraine from Russia, in this first case, it was beneficial for Ukraine, because they had some money from this. This second option has even no benefits for Ukraine. They are just funding the war of Russia against Ukraine in this logic. He's crazy,” Blaha said.

“You [Russia] defeated Napoleon. You defeated Hitler. Should you be afraid of Ursula von der Leyen? IT'S A JOKE,” deputy leader of Slovakia’s Smer party L'ubos Blaha told Sputnik.
The Slovak opposition, which stirred up mass protests after PM Robert Fico visited Moscow, has ties with the infamous Georgian Legion's* mercs from Ukraine, Blaha has revealed to Sputnik.
"They are the fighters in Ukraine who are waging really war crimes. And I think that their leader, his name is Mr. Mamulashvili, was in Slovakia. He's funded by neoliberal funds, by neoliberal movements, [and] NGOs. These NGOs are getting money from USAID and from Soros," he stressed.
The bloc is now in a historical period, and it must strive to survive, Ľuboš Blaha, Slovak MEP said.
“If the EU is going to be in hatred. The consequence of this would be the death of the European Union. The second option is that we will consider Russians as a friend, as a partner. And we will discuss with them, we will negotiate with them, we will cooperate, we will take your energy sources and it will help our economy. this is the only way how to survive,” he said.

Macron’s Nuclear Threats Against Russia Could Turn France Into a Giant Chernobyl: Here’s Why.
France's president has announced plans to discuss extending his country's nuclear umbrella to European allies, and reiterated the possibility of sending European troops to Ukraine. Sputnik reached out to one of Russia's most renowned military observers to learn why engaging in nuclear sabre-rattling with Moscow is a very bad idea.
“If France dares to use nuclear weapons against Russia, the response will be nuclear,” Arsenal Otechestva editor Alexey Leonkov said, commenting on Macron’s belligerent remarks in Wednesday's address to the nation.
“A chain reaction could occur connected, among other things, to nuclear energy,” Leonkov warned, citing France’s large-scale network of 56 nuclear reactors. “These reactors are unlikely to be quickly brought to a safe, non-operational state.”
“This could create several Chernobyls as a consequence of the use of nuclear weapons. That is, the territory of France would effectively cease to exist,” he said.

In such a scenario, the radioactive clouds would be “a million times greater” than those generated by the 1986 accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, Leonkov stressed, warning that depending on wind patterns, the fallout would “most likely spread to Britain and across the Atlantic to the US and Canada. It won’t be pretty.”
Even a conventional Russian strike using the unstoppable Oreshnik hypersonic MRBM would threaten the destruction of all of France’s strategic military and civilian infrastructure, Leonkov added.
“Therefore, flaunting France’s nuclear arsenal – 290 warheads against Russia’s almost 6,000, most of which use guided hypersonic technology, is madness. This is madness on the part of Macron and those who surround and support him,” Leonkov summed up.

The bloc’s defense plans are “primarily aimed at Russia” and hinder peace efforts in Ukraine, Dmitry Peskov has argued.
The Kremlin has condemned the EU’s plan to increase defense spending across the bloc, calling it a path towards confrontation that hinders peace efforts with Ukraine.
During an emergency summit in Brussels on Thursday, EU leaders endorsed a €800 billion plan to “rearm Europe” proposed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
”The European Union is actively discussing its militarization, specifically in the defense sector,” the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Friday. The measures are “primarily aimed at Russia, which is, of course, a matter of deep concern,” he added.
French President Emmanuel Macron claimed on Wednesday that Russia poses a direct threat to France and the entire EU. He echoed von der Leyen’s calls for a significant increase in defense spending to counter perceived danger posed by Moscow.

Macron’s comments adhered to the conventional Western narrative portraying Russia as the unprovoked aggressor in the Ukraine conflict and claiming that Moscow has ambitions of conquest in Ukraine and beyond into EU and NATO states.
Russia has repeatedly and categorically denied the claims.
Moscow will however, take measures to safeguard its security in response to the bloc, Peskov has warned.
“The kind of confrontational rhetoric and confrontational plans that we are now seeing in Brussels and in European capitals strike a seriously discordant note with intentions to find a peaceful resolution in Ukraine,” Peskov added.
Russia and the United States launched negotiations last month to try and settle the Ukraine conflict, sidelining the EU. The move sparked condemnation from the bloc.
Moscow has argued the EU’s aggressive stance made it unfit to take part in peace talks. Trump has also reportedly halted American military aid to Ukraine, leaving Brussels jostling for funds to support Kiev.
Moscow maintains that Western aid prolongs the war without altering its outcome.

Each day that passes makes a conclusive Russian victory in the Donbass and beyond more certain. As Russia bolsters her forces, and weaponry, those of Ukraine decrease. Russian forces gain ready access to rest and recuperation as troop numbers increase. The increasingly exhausted and demoralised Ukrainian troops have an ever decreasing prospect of such respite. This situation is likely to bring them to complete breakdown as Russia unleashes the firepower of the more modern and advanced weaponry that is arriving with the newly mobilised Russian troops.
The various Ukrainian offensives are now weak when confronted by the reinforced Russian lines. A few futile efforts achieve quite miserable results before fire reigns down on the Ukrainian troops and they are forced back to their starting positions.
And now, all this being said, we have arrived at the wet, and later, freezing conditions where these pathetic Ukrainian forces will be subject to myriad forms of abject misery with death and injury all around them while they lie sodden or frozen, abandoned to their fate by Kiev.
The pitiable young and old of Ukraine have been frogmarched to their deaths as cannon-fodder while the bestial elites of the collective West urge their "president" to add more to their number there at the gates of Hell and their doom. We must feel for the majority of them as they are not the Nazis we revile, in most part they are decent men, fathers, sons, brothers, husband and uncles, who no doubt saw through the coup of 2014 for what it was. But sadly, their fate seems sealed.
Nothing will stop Russia now. Every factor favours them. Victory will be Russia's. In Donbass and beyond and in due course across the world.
Victory belongs to Russia: It is now only a matter of time.
