Kiev must embrace a “realistic vision for peace” to end the conflict with Russia, a senior member of the US president-elect’s campaign has said.
The second administration of US President-elect Donald Trump will focus on achieving peace in Ukraine rather than enabling it to take back all the territory it has lost to Russia, Bryan Lanza, a senior campaign advisor to the US president-elect, has said.
Lanza, a veteran Republican party strategist who has worked on campaigns with Trump since 2016, made the remarks to the BBC on Saturday. While he expressed respect for the Ukrainian people, Lanza said the US priority would be to achieve “peace and to stop the killing.”
The strategist dismissed as unrealistic Kiev’s proclaimed goal of expelling Russian forces from all the territory it claims. Lanza specifically mentioned the Crimean peninsula, which broke away from Ukraine in the aftermath of the 2014 Maidan coup and joined Russia via a referendum. He did not say anything about four other formerly Ukrainian territories incorporated into the country in 2022.
When [Vladimir] Zelensky says we will only stop this fighting, there will only be peace once Crimea is returned, we’ve got news for President Zelensky: Crimea is gone.
The US will not fight on Ukraine’s behalf to get the those areas back from Russia, Lanza stressed. “And if that is your priority of getting Crimea back and having American soldiers fight to get Crimea back, you’re on your own,” he said.

Instead, the Ukrainian leadership should come up with a “realistic vision for peace” ahead of potential negotiations. Zelensky’s insistence that “we can only have peace if we have Crimea” just shows he is “not serious,” Lanza said.
“What we’re going to say to Ukraine is, ‘You know what you see? What do you see as a realistic vision for peace? It’s not a vision for winning, but it’s a vision for peace. And let’s start having honest conversation,” he added.
Trump repeatedly promised to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in 24 hours during his election campaign. However, he has provided little detail on how he intends to do so. Meanwhile, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance has suggested that the conflict could be frozen along the current front line, with Kiev forced to abandon its claims over the territories held by Russia, as well as its aspiration to join NATO.
Lanza’s statements on the Ukraine issue do not reflect Trump’s position, Reuters reported on Saturday evening.
“Brian was hired to work on the campaign,” the agency quoted a Trump campaign representative as saying. “He does not work for the president [now] and does not speak for him.”

Former NATO Commander Sees Trump Pushing Ukraine to Recognize Russia's New Regions.
Former Supreme Allied Commander Europe Adm. James Stavridis believes that Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election, will push Kiev to recognize Russia's new regions as part of the deal he promised to organize.
"What I hope he does, and I think he will is push both sides to get to the negotiating table," Stavridis said in an interview with CNN. "Putin, unfortunately, but in a real world, will end up with about 20% of Ukraine, the chunk that he currently holds."
According to Stavridis, with the election of Trump as US president, tensions will arise within NATO over the issue of financing Kiev, while Trump himself will be skeptical about sponsoring Ukraine.
Earlier, the Wall Street Journal reported citing sources that Trump's team had allegedly proposed freezing the conflict in Ukraine, creating a demilitarized zone along the front line, and new arms supplies in exchange for Kiev's promise not to temporarily join NATO. The WSJ did not specify who exactly would maintain security in the demilitarized zone, but one of the publication's sources ruled out that it could be the US military or UN peacekeepers.

Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Complains to US General About Worsening Situation at Battlefield.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky said on Saturday that he had held talks with the Supreme Commander of the Joint Armed Forces of NATO in Europe, Gen. Christopher Cavoli, complaining to him about the worsening situation at the battlefield.
"I had another phone conversation with the commander of the US Armed Forces in Europe, Gen. Christopher Cavoli. At the beginning of the conversation, I informed my American colleague about the situation at the front line. The situation remains difficult and tends to worsen," Syrsky said on Facebook*.
What Promises Has Trump Made on Ukraine?
The New York Times previously reported that Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and Cavoli had discussed recently military planning for the winter period, as well as the types of weapons and ammunition that Washington might send to Kiev over the next five months, during a meeting with their Ukrainian counterparts. Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine hinder the settlement, directly involving NATO countries in the conflict.

Trump Jr. trolls Zelensky.
The eldest son of the US president-elect has suggested in a post on social media that the Ukrainian leader could soon lose his “allowance”.
Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the US president-elect, has suggested that Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky could soon lose access to generous American aid. While on the campaign trail, the Republican candidate repeatedly described Zelensky as the “greatest salesman in history” for his ability to milk President Joe Biden’s administration of billions of dollars.
Since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022, the US has emerged as Kiev’s biggest donor, with the US Congress earmarking more than $174 billion in military and other aid. Russia has denounced this assistance, insisting that it only serves to unnecessarily prolong the bloodshed and is unable to change the course of the conflict.
Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Trump Jr. posted a short video that features a photo of Zelensky standing beside the president-elect, with the camera gradually zooming in on the Ukrainian leader. The picture then turns black and white with dollar banknotes raining down upon the official. The caption reads: “POV: You’re 38 Days from losing your allowance.”

The Wall Street Journal, citing anonymous sources, reported on Wednesday that Trump’s team was considering several roadmaps, which allegedly envisage Ukraine relinquishing its NATO membership aspirations “for at least 20 years” and freezing hostilities along the current front line. Washington, however, would provide Kiev with more weaponry to keep Moscow at bay, the media outlet claimed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he strongly favors a comprehensive solution over a simple freezing of the conflict, noting, however, that Moscow is ready to negotiate in principle. Zelensky has publicly ruled out making any territorial concessions to Russia.
On Friday, Bloomberg claimed that European Union leaders had been discussing “whether the bloc will be ready to foot the bill for the war,” amid concerns that “Trump will seek to shift the financial burden on Europe.”
Earlier this week, the Financial Times, citing unnamed Ukrainian defense officials, reported that fear was growing in Ukraine that the US president-elect would suspend military aid to the country.

VICTORY BELONGS TO RUSSIA: IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME
Each day that passes makes a conclusive Russian victory in the Donbass and beyond more certain. As Russia bolsters her forces, and weaponry, those of Ukraine decrease. Russian forces gain ready access to rest and recuperation as troop numbers increase. The increasingly exhausted and demoralised Ukrainian troops have an ever decreasing prospect of such respite. This situation is likely to bring them to complete breakdown as Russia unleashes the firepower of the more modern and advanced weaponry that is arriving with the newly mobilised Russian troops.
The various Ukrainian offensives are now weak when confronted by the reinforced Russian lines. A few futile efforts achieve quite miserable results before fire reigns down on the Ukrainian troops and they are forced back to their starting positions.
And now, all this being said, we have arrived at the wet, and later, freezing conditions where these pathetic Ukrainian forces will be subject to myriad forms of abject misery with death and injury all around them while they lie sodden or frozen, abandoned to their fate by Kiev.
The pitiable young and old of Ukraine have been frogmarched to their deaths as cannon-fodder while the bestial elites of the collective West urge their "president" to add more to their number there at the gates of Hell and their doom. We must feel for the majority of them as they are not the Nazis we revile, in most part they are decent men, fathers, sons, brothers, husband and uncles, who no doubt saw through the coup of 2014 for what it was. But sadly, their fate seems sealed.
Nothing will stop Russia now. Every factor favours them. Victory will be Russia's. In Donbass and beyond and in due course across the world.
Victory belongs to Russia: It is now only a matter of time.

HOW TRUTHFUL IS PUTIN & WHAT IS RUSSIA’S INTENT REGARDING A MULTIPOLAR WORLD?
The crimes western MSM/politicians have attributed to Vladimir Putin have been legion. LIke other such targets he has been portrayed as 'evil incarnate'. But might all this be false?
The appropriate cynicism regarding geopolitical maneuvering in general causes many to read nefarious motives into Putin's words. Of course in regard to politicians in general, 95% of the time those who red and analyze politicians’ words are right to do so. However it is my belief that Putin is sincere and that his words can be taken at face value rather than looking for some negative intent behind them in regard to the West. Many would laugh in scorn at these words and say no politician alive now or who has ever lived has attempted to deliver his or her views with honest accuracy. I beg to disagree in the case of Putin while admitting this viewpoint to otherwise have great merit, and an observable fact that we have all seen demonstrated time and again in those who practice economy with the truth in their practice of the political arts.
Putin could hardly have gone further in showing his wished for relationship with the West ever since becoming Russian president in 2000. He retained his wish to have western leaders as "partners" (as he regularly called them) right up to very recently. Asking if Russia could join NATO, and the EU, agreeing to the 6-7 years of negotiations to see if peace and reconciliation of forces could be achieved in Ukraine, then agreeing negotiations with the Kiev regime to end the conflict that escalated in February of 2022. He sought also, prior to engaging with the Kiev regime militarily, to start negotiations with the West on agreeing a new security architecture for Europe including the Russian Federation. What more could Putin have done. And he is STILL saying much the same now, despite the entire war essentially waging war against Russia both militarily and economically.
So, I do not think Putin's consistent stance warrants the cynicism you apply to it Matthew. This goes for the Northern Sea Route ambitions also. Russia's approach is entirely consistent with China's both in the Arctic and in Africa, and what's more, if allowed, in Europe and toward the USA. The stance consists in being for expanded trade and development in concordance with tolerance toward diverse forms of government, accepting the world as is, as it is, rather than with the attitude exemplified by the USA and UK/EU that they have moral and ethical supremacy and others much conform to them before any relationship of a fundamental nature can be embarked upon. This is a foundational issue for the development of a multipolar world wherein BRICS comprises the main source of seedcorn for the project. A world where pragmatism will allow development and trade bringing (it is trusted) into being increases in beneficial areas of life. These beneficial areas of life (various freedoms, human rights observance, even a greater degree of democracy) that the USA and its allies seek to bring about by various acts of coercion, including governmental subversion and societal fracturing of those nations even including at times, outright war.
It is easy to be cynical about these matters, especially when parochial, wholly self-interested concerns appear to be at stake. A state of tribalism where 100% selfish motivations; personal and state interests; along with various mythologies concerning civilization, democracy, freedom, ‘western values’, exceptionalism, manifest destiny, religious beliefs and general, overall superiority combine with national interests then an adversarial stance becomes inevitable. At this point all statements voiced by those in nations outwish, or moving outwith, your area of control, are perceived as threats. Thus it is, in the current, tribal, ‘war mode’ of the western elites, desperate to retain their traditional dominance and to increase to total dominance due to what they perceive as an existential threat to them, Putin’s words will fall on completely deaf ears.
Only the continued rise of nations outwith western control will ameliorate the tribal stance of western political elites, however, not through their gaining a true or complete understanding of the motivations of the nations they have fought, but through an epiphany relating to the point at which their goal of global dominance in perpetuity is recognized as utterly and completely defeated and hopeless. At that point I believe the gradual awareness will grow among the western powers of the genuine intent of Putin and those working with him (within BRICS, SCO et al) to in fact, not merely in words or with hidden intent, create a truly civilized world. A world where tolerance of diverse systems of governance enables a reliable continuance of trade and cooperation bringing in turn greater understanding underpinning stability necessary for development where greater levels of global peace can be established. These are the benefits that humanity needs and has striven for, but hindered by the tribal attitudes. Now a dedicated effort is being made to rise above such attitudes by the creation of a truly multipolar world.
