From ‘Honored’ Leader to 'Dictator’: Zelensky Loses Status as US Darling.
It was just a month ago today that Donald Trump returned to the Oval Office, yet his publicly expressed attitude toward Volodymyr Zelensky has proven like night and day compared to his predecessor.
Smooth, Sweet-Talking Biden
“It’s an honor to be by your side,” Joe Biden complemented Zelensky as they met in late 2022. “You are the man of the year.”
Zelensky is a “man whose courage would be forged in fire and steel,” Biden said in a rousing, Hollywood movie-style speech in Warsaw in early 2023, claiming that Zelensky “leads a democratically-elected government that represents the will of the Ukrainian people.”
Senior Biden officials heaped similar praise on Zelensky, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken hailing his “extraordinary courage and leadership and success” during a visit in 2022.
In 2023, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin praised Zelensky’s leadership and dubbed “Ukraine’s fight for freedom is one of the great causes of our time.”
Besides praise, the president and his administration vowed America's everlasting support right up to its last months in office.
“We’ll be with Ukraine until they prevail in this war,” Biden said alongside Zelensky in June 2024.
Last May, Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited a Kiev basement bar to play an unironic rendition of Neil Young’s Rockin’ in the Free World. “We are with you today. And we will stay by your side until Ukraine’s security, sovereignty, its ability to choose its own path is guaranteed,” he promised.
Trump's Elections Demand for Ukraine is Aimed to Make Zelensky Pay a Heavy Price

“Think of it, a modestly successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelensky, talked the United States of America into spending $350 Billion, to go into a War that couldn’t be won, that never had to start, but a War that he, without the US and ‘TRUMP’, will never be able to settle,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post this week, eviscerating Zelensky after he accused him of being trapped in a Russian "disinformation bubble."
“On top of this, Zelensky admits that half of the money we sent him is ‘MISSING’. He refuses to have Elections, is very low in Ukrainian Polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden ‘like a fiddle’," Trump wrote.
"A Dictator without Elections, Zelensky better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left,” the US president warned.
Trump had previously disparaged Zelensky on the campaign trail ahead of the 2024 election as "the greatest salesman of any politician that's ever lived," but never has his rhetoric escalated to calling him a straight-up shyster and dictator.
“The idea that Zelensky is going to change the president’s mind by badmouthing him in public media…everyone who knows the president will tell you that is an atrocious way to deal with this administration,” VP JD Vance warned following Wednesday's verbal escalation.
Trump dropped hints about his administration's shifting priorities vis-a-vis Ukraine earlier in the month.
On February 13, Trump confirmed Zelensky would not be at the Russia-US meeting in Riyadh on Ukraine, and said he didn’t “think it’s practical” for Ukraine to join NATO - conceding on an issue that Russia has long considered one its red lines.
Two days earlier, Trump outlined the contours of what a US-Ukraine “deal” might look like, saying Ukraine should put up $500 bln in rare earths for aid, and that “they may make a deal, they may not make a deal, they may be Russian someday or they may not be Russian someday.” Zelensky reportedly refused the offer.

Ukraine U-Turn Is ‘Trump’s Revenge’ Against Deep State and the Democrats: Analyst.
Donald Trump “never supported the conflict” in Ukraine going as far back as 2015 when he first ran for president and made clear “that he wanted a rapprochement with Russia,” veteran journalist and author Daniel Lazare told Sputnik, commenting on the dramatic reversals in US Ukraine policy seen over the past 24 hours.
“Political tensions, political anger, political hostility are at record levels in the US. The two sides despise one another. It's almost on the verge of a civil war, number one. Number two, there's no question that Trump wants revenge against his enemies. But number three, there's no doubt that his enemies have given him the perfect opportunity. I mean, Joe Biden provoked this war in February 2022,” Lazare said.
“Trump's attitude is that he didn't support the war to begin with. The war is a disaster. The war is unnecessary, and therefore he wants to end it. And I think in that respect, his actions are entirely rational,” the observer added.
Joe Biden “knew” that “he couldn’t win this war” against Russia in Ukraine, “yet he showed every sign of continuing it perpetually. He didn’t care. He was willing to keep on sacrificing the lives of young Ukrainians and young Russians in an attempt to keep this conflict going without end,” Lazare stressed.

Now, Lazare predicts, Russia may very well get a “Finlandized” Ukraine – demilitarized, purged of pro-Nazi elements, and kept out of NATO, with eastern territories as part of Russia.
President Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky got embroiled in a war of words Wednesday, a day after the Russia-US meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia focused on ending the Ukrainian crisis. Trump blasted Zelensky over his refusal to hold elections, saying he's down to "4% approval" and that Ukraine looks like a "massive demolition site" under his leadership.
Zelensky responded by accusing Trump of living in a "disinformation space" and saying he would "like to have more truth with the Trump team," prompting the US president to unload on him with an angry Truth Social post about how the “modestly successful comedian” had “talked the [US] into spending $350 Billion Dollars” on “a War that couldn’t be won,” declared “half of the money we sent him…‘MISSING’,” and refused to hold elections.

Each day that passes makes a conclusive Russian victory in the Donbass and beyond more certain. As Russia bolsters her forces, and weaponry, those of Ukraine decrease. Russian forces gain ready access to rest and recuperation as troop numbers increase. The increasingly exhausted and demoralised Ukrainian troops have an ever decreasing prospect of such respite. This situation is likely to bring them to complete breakdown as Russia unleashes the firepower of the more modern and advanced weaponry that is arriving with the newly mobilised Russian troops.
The various Ukrainian offensives are now weak when confronted by the reinforced Russian lines. A few futile efforts achieve quite miserable results before fire reigns down on the Ukrainian troops and they are forced back to their starting positions.
And now, all this being said, we have arrived at the wet, and later, freezing conditions where these pathetic Ukrainian forces will be subject to myriad forms of abject misery with death and injury all around them while they lie sodden or frozen, abandoned to their fate by Kiev.
The pitiable young and old of Ukraine have been frogmarched to their deaths as cannon-fodder while the bestial elites of the collective West urge their "president" to add more to their number there at the gates of Hell and their doom. We must feel for the majority of them as they are not the Nazis we revile, in most part they are decent men, fathers, sons, brothers, husband and uncles, who no doubt saw through the coup of 2014 for what it was. But sadly, their fate seems sealed.
Nothing will stop Russia now. Every factor favours them. Victory will be Russia's. In Donbass and beyond and in due course across the world.
Victory belongs to Russia: It is now only a matter of time.
