Baltic Sea won’t become NATO’s ‘internal lake’ – Russian deputy FM.
Moscow will respond appropriately to any moves by the US-led bloc in the region, Aleksandr Grushko has said
Russia will do everything necessary to protect its interests in the Baltic Sea amid increased NATO activity in the region, Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Grushko has said.
In mid-January, NATO announced the launch of its Baltic Sentry mission, saying it is aimed at patrolling the Baltic after key underwater cables were damaged in the area last year.
According to Grushko, the US-led military bloc’s “dream” of turning the Baltic Sea into its “internal lake” will not come to fruition, because “Russia will not allow this,” he told Russia 24 TV on Friday.
“We will do everything necessary to make sure that our interests… in the Baltic Sea region are reliably protected,” the diplomat said, clarifying that he was talking about the military dimension.
As for specific countermeasures by Russia, they will be determined based on the activities of NATO and its individual members in the region, he stated.

Grushko expressed doubt that the approximately ten vessels allocated by NATO for patrolling the sea as part of the Baltic Sentry mission will be able to take the area under control. However, he urged that a close eye be kept on the “rhetoric of our rivals” regarding their actions in the region.
Moscow wants “the Baltic Sea to be a sea of cooperation, a sea of interaction, a sea through which trade is carried out via shipping routes that had been running for centuries,” the deputy foreign minister stressed.
Last year, Nikolay Patrushev, the former head of the Russian Security Council who currently serves as an aide to President Vladimir Putin, warned that “the West is seeking to deprive Russia of access to the Baltic Sea.” According to Patrushev, NATO’s newest members – Sweden and Finland – are being used in an attempt to turn it into “the bloc’s ‘internal sea.’”

Russia-West reset inevitable – senior Polish MP.
The West is eagerly awaiting a return to “business as usual” with the sanctioned country, Krzysztof Bosak has said.
Krzysztof Bosak.
The West is waiting for the opportunity to reset relations with Russia after the Ukraine conflict ends, particularly in the business sector, the deputy speaker of the Polish Parliament, Krzysztof Bosak, said on Friday. It’s not true that Western countries have severed ties with Moscow, he added.
Bosak made the remarks to RMF24 radio in response to questions about whether Warsaw should consider rekindling relations with Moscow if US President Donald Trump, who has pledged to end the conflict, brings Ukraine and Russia to the negotiating table. The MP argued that a reset in relations is inevitable, saying, “it will happen, regardless of what anyone thinks in Poland.”
“We live in a world of propaganda, where it is believed that the Western world has definitively severed ties with Russia. This is purely a lie. In the Western world, all business and politics are just waiting to return to business as usual with Russia,” Bosak, who also leads Poland’s right-wing National Movement party, stated.

He went on to say that Poland could benefit from restoring access to cheap Russian energy, which he believes would be “more advantageous for us in terms of market competition than buying expensive gas from Qatar and the USA.” He also criticized the EU’s sanctions on Russia, saying they have been ineffective and have hurt Europe more than Moscow.
“The sanctions policy should be such that those who are sanctioned lose more than those who impose the sanctions. Unfortunately, regarding the sanctions policy imposed [on Russia] by the EU, the opposite is true,” Bosak said. He argued that sanctions “should not be an element of ideology, but rather of pragmatism,” and sticking to them could harm Poland’s economy, making businesses unprofitable and leaving people struggling to make a living.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has made similar arguments, criticizing EU sanctions as counterproductive. Last week, he told Kossuth Radio that the EU should aim to establish a “sanction-free relationship with Russia” by the end of the year.
Russia’s economy has shown resilience amid the sanctions, with the International Monetary Fund recently raising its 2025 growth forecast for the country to 1.4%. It attributed this to diversified energy exports and positive domestic fiscal measures.

In contrast, the euro area’s growth outlook has been downgraded to 1%, with the IMF citing low consumer confidence and high energy costs as major challenges. The EU has faced significant economic strain since turning away from Russian energy, with member states relying on costlier alternatives that have increased expenses for businesses and households, fueled inflation, and strained manufacturing sectors.
NATO Dumps Almost $200 Billion Into Ukraine.
The bloc has collectively financed Kiev to the tune of $191.2 billion over the past three years, according to calculations by Sputnik, based on data from the Ukrainian Finance Ministry and the University of Kiel.
Here’s the breakdown:
Financial aid (for budgetary and social spending): $43.3 billion
Humanitarian aid: $13.4 billion
Military aid: $133.4 billion
Who gave what?
The US contributed 54% ($103.8 billion), making it the largest donor. The United States also provided the majority of military aid ($68.9 billion), humanitarian aid ($3.7 billion), and budgetary support ($31.2 billion).
Germany was the second-largest contributor, providing $17 billion, or 8.9% of the total aid. The UK contributed $14.8 billion, or 7.7%. Other NATO countries each contributed less than 5% of the total.
Scholz's Cabinet Blocks $3 Billion Urgent Aid Package to Ukraine – Reports
The West continues to invest vast sums in aid to Ukraine, but much of it has proven futile, as Kiev suffers enormous losses. Furthermore, a significant portion of Western military supplies intended for Ukraine has ended up in the hands of black market dealers.
A US Defense Department Inspector General audit released in October 2024 revealed that hundreds of pieces of military equipment provided to Ukraine by Washington required repairs before they could be used on the battlefield.
Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine hinder the settlement, directly involving NATO countries in the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russia.
According to Lavrov, the US and NATO are directly involved in the conflict, including not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries.

VICTORY BELONGS TO RUSSIA: IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME
Each day that passes makes a conclusive Russian victory in the Donbass and beyond more certain. As Russia bolsters her forces, and weaponry, those of Ukraine decrease. Russian forces gain ready access to rest and recuperation as troop numbers increase. The increasingly exhausted and demoralised Ukrainian troops have an ever decreasing prospect of such respite. This situation is likely to bring them to complete breakdown as Russia unleashes the firepower of the more modern and advanced weaponry that is arriving with the newly mobilised Russian troops.
The various Ukrainian offensives are now weak when confronted by the reinforced Russian lines. A few futile efforts achieve quite miserable results before fire reigns down on the Ukrainian troops and they are forced back to their starting positions.
And now, all this being said, we have arrived at the wet, and later, freezing conditions where these pathetic Ukrainian forces will be subject to myriad forms of abject misery with death and injury all around them while they lie sodden or frozen, abandoned to their fate by Kiev.
The pitiable young and old of Ukraine have been frogmarched to their deaths as cannon-fodder while the bestial elites of the collective West urge their "president" to add more to their number there at the gates of Hell and their doom. We must feel for the majority of them as they are not the Nazis we revile, in most part they are decent men, fathers, sons, brothers, husband and uncles, who no doubt saw through the coup of 2014 for what it was. But sadly, their fate seems sealed.
Nothing will stop Russia now. Every factor favours them. Victory will be Russia's. In Donbass and beyond and in due course across the world.
Victory belongs to Russia: It is now only a matter of time.
