No Illusions: Russia Seeks Legally Binding Solutions to Ukraine Crisis.
Moscow firmly maintains that there can be no victors in a nuclear war; however, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned against testing the Kremlin's patience. He also emphasized that Russia does not aim to escalate discussions regarding the risks associated with the use of nukes.
“We have never initiated discussions about what to do with nuclear weapons or whether they could be used,” Lavrov said during the ‘60 Minutes’ program aired on the Rossiya-1 TV channel. “We do not want to fan the flames on the issue of nuclear risks.Our position is firmly rooted in the belief, reiterated by the president, that there are no victors in a nuclear war. Nonetheless, I would caution against underestimating our patience or our commitment to safeguarding our legitimate national interests using all available means."
Lavrov highlighted that it was Russia that brought the issue of nuclear disarmament to the world stage.
“It was at Russia's initiative in 2021 - first during discussions between President Putin and President Biden, and later among the leaders of the five nuclear powers, the permanent members of the UN Security Council—that the Reagan-Gorbachev formula of 1987 was reaffirmed: in a nuclear war, there are no winners, and it must never be fought. This was Russia’s initiative,” Lavrov emphasized.
Ukraine Crisis: No Illusions About Easy Resolutions
In discussing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Lavrov stressed that Russia does not harbor any illusions about a straightforward resolution, particularly given the policies of the incoming US administration under Donald Trump.
“It can only be achieved through an agreement that guarantees reliable security and stability in Europe—one that acknowledges Russia's interests while also respecting the legitimate concerns of all other nations,” he stated.
Ceasefire in Ukraine Not Acceptable Without Fundamental Solutions
Lavrov dismissed the notion of a ceasefire in Ukraine, emphasizing that only legally binding agreements that address the conflict's root causes can pave the way for lasting peace.
“As for the talks we are hearing about, primarily from the West and Ukraine, they are centered solely on a ceasefire. The goal seems to be to give the Kiev regime time to regroup with Western support, before launching another attempt to carry out its handlers’ instructions to strategically defeat Russia,” Lavrov remarked.
"The President has mentioned this numerous times. For us, a ceasefire alone will not suffice. What we need are reliable, legally binding agreements aimed at addressing the root causes of the conflict, including general security in Europe, NATO expansion, and, of course, the rights of people living in the territories who have chosen to reunite with the Russian Federation. However, this does not mean that the demand for respecting linguistic and religious rights, which were legislatively prohibited by Zelensky, should not apply to the rest of Ukraine," the top diplomat added.

Russian Forces Strike Ukrainian Military Airfields, Achieve Key Advances in Special Op Zone.
Russian aviation and artillery struck the infrastructure of military airfields, ammunition and drone depots, as well as concentrations of Ukrainian personnel and equipment in 146 locations, the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) reported on Tuesday.
"Operational-tactical aviation, strike drones, missile forces and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces targeted the infrastructure of military airfields, ammunition depots and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as concentrations of enemy personnel and military equipment in 146 locations," the MoD said.
Air defense systems intercepted four US-made HIMARS rockets and 65 fixed-wing drones.
The list of Ukrainian equipment destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation includes 650 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 38,420 unmanned aerial vehicles, 590 air defense systems, 19,967 tanks and other armored vehicles, 1,504 multiple rocket launcher combat vehicles, 19,969 field artillery and mortar systems and 29,469 specialized military vehicles.
Five Russian battlegroups improved their positions in the special operation zone, the MoD reported.
"Units of the Zapad battlegroup improved their tactical positions and inflicted losses on the personnel and equipment of three mechanized brigades, one assault brigade and two territorial defense brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the areas of Dvurechnaya, Zagryzovo, Kopanki, Ivanovka in the Kharkov region, Novoeygorovka in the Lugansk People's Republic and Terny in the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry noted.
In addition, they repelled three counterattacks by enemy assault units.
Ukrainian losses included:
Up to 380 personnel
Three pickup trucks
One 152-mm Acatsiya self-propelled artillery system
One 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system
Two 122-mm D-30 howitzers
Two US-made 105-mm M119 guns
Two Bukovel-AD and Enclave-N electronic warfare stations
Units of the Vostok battlegroup also took more advantageous positions.
"They inflicted losses on motorized infantry, mechanized brigades and two territorial defense brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the areas of Vremevka, Konstantinopol, Neskuchnoye, Razliv in the Donetsk People's Republic and Temirovka in the Zaporozhye region," the ministry and.
They also repelled a counterattack by a Ukrainian assault group.
Ukrainian losses included:
Up to 160 personnel
Two motor vehicles
One US-made 155-mm Paladin self-propelled artillery system
One 152-mm Msta-S howitzer
One 152-mm Acatsiya self-propelled artillery system
The Yug battlegroup improved its positions along the forward edge and inflicted losses on formations of three mechanized brigades, one assault brigade and one airborne brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the areas of Serebryanka, Seversk, Druzhkovka, Konstantinovka, Chasov Yar and Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People's Republic, the MoD said.
Russian forces also repelled a counterattack by Ukrainian assault troops.
Forces of the Tsentr Battlegroup advanced deeper into enemy defenses.
Troops targeted personnel and equipment of eight Ukrainian brigades in the areas of Krasnoarmeysk, Udachnoye, Zverevka, Andreyevka, Dzerzhinsk, Shcherbinovka, Shevchenko and Novoolenovka in the Donetsk People's Republic.
"They repelled ten counterattacks by Ukrainian units," the ministry said.
Ukrainian losses included:
Up to 585 personnel
One tank
One infantry fighting vehicle
Two armored personnel carriers, including a US-made M113
One Kazak armored vehicle
Four motor vehicles
One 152-mm Msta-B howitzer
Forces of the Dnepr battlegroup improved their forward positions and inflicted losses on personnel and equipment of a mechanized brigade and two territorial defense brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the areas of Nikolskoye, Pridneprovskoye and Yantarnoe in the Kherson region, the ministry said.
Ukrainian losses included:
Up to 65 personnel
Three motor vehicles
One 122-mm D-30 howitzer
Russia's Sever battlegroup eliminated up to 40 Ukrainian soldiers, destroyed three vehicles and 4 D-30 howitzers near Liptsy and Volchansk in Kharkiv region, targeting a mechanized brigade and a territorial defense brigade.

Trump mocks opponents in Christmas message
The US president-elect has singled out China, Canada, Panama, Greenland and the Democrats.
US President-elect Donald Trump has posted a Christmas message taking potshots at China, Panama, Canada, Greenland, and his domestic political opponents.
The Republican, who is slated to return to the White House in January, put up two posts on his Truth Social platform on Wednesday, wishing “Merry Christmas to all.”
The first on his list were “the wonderful soldiers of China, who are lovingly, but illegally, operating the Panama Canal.” The US controlled the waterway between the Atlantic and the Pacific for almost a century before handing it back to Panama in 1999. The local government has since contracted Chinese companies to operate it.
Trump also sent season’s greetings to “Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada, whose citizens’ taxes are far too high,” but would be lowered by 60% “if Canada was to become our 51st state.”
“Likewise, to the people of Greenland, which is needed by the United States for national security purposes and who want the US to be there, and we will!” Trump added. He has recently revived the idea of US control over Greenland after his offer to buy the self-governed Danish island was rejected in 2019.
“Merry Christmas to the Radical Left Lunatics,” Trump continued, accusing the Democrats of trying to obstruct the US courts and elections, while going after him and other Americans.
“They know that their only chance of survival is getting pardons from a man who has absolutely no idea what he is doing,” Trump added, referring to outgoing President Joe Biden. He also brought up the fact that Biden commuted the death sentences of 37 federal inmates to life in prison, saying they should “go to hell” instead.
“We had the greatest election in the history of our country, a bright light is now shining over the USA, and in 26 days we will Make America Great Again,” the president-elect concluded. “Merry Christmas!”
Trump, who will be inaugurated on January 20, has already teased a series of “day one” actions, from executive orders on immigration and energy to brokering a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.

VICTORY BELONGS TO RUSSIA: IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME
Each day that passes makes a conclusive Russian victory in the Donbass and beyond more certain. As Russia bolsters her forces, and weaponry, those of Ukraine decrease. Russian forces gain ready access to rest and recuperation as troop numbers increase. The increasingly exhausted and demoralised Ukrainian troops have an ever decreasing prospect of such respite. This situation is likely to bring them to complete breakdown as Russia unleashes the firepower of the more modern and advanced weaponry that is arriving with the newly mobilised Russian troops.
The various Ukrainian offensives are now weak when confronted by the reinforced Russian lines. A few futile efforts achieve quite miserable results before fire reigns down on the Ukrainian troops and they are forced back to their starting positions.
And now, all this being said, we have arrived at the wet, and later, freezing conditions where these pathetic Ukrainian forces will be subject to myriad forms of abject misery with death and injury all around them while they lie sodden or frozen, abandoned to their fate by Kiev.
The pitiable young and old of Ukraine have been frogmarched to their deaths as cannon-fodder while the bestial elites of the collective West urge their "president" to add more to their number there at the gates of Hell and their doom. We must feel for the majority of them as they are not the Nazis we revile, in most part they are decent men, fathers, sons, brothers, husband and uncles, who no doubt saw through the coup of 2014 for what it was. But sadly, their fate seems sealed.
Nothing will stop Russia now. Every factor favours them. Victory will be Russia's. In Donbass and beyond and in due course across the world.
