Western plot to damage Russian economy has failed – Putin.
The country’s businesses are adapting and thriving as trade continues to grow, the president has said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin speaks at the plenary session of the VTB Investment Forum " Russia is Calling!".
Western attempts to defeat Russia on all fronts, including inflicting damage to the country’s economy, have clearly failed, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.
The elites of “certain nations” have proven to be unreliable trade partners as they have tried to damage Russian interests in recent years, Putin said in his opening speech at the Russia Calling! investment forum.
“We often hear that those nations set the goal to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia in political, military and economic spheres. Including in terms of economics and technology,” he stated.
“They sought to drastically weaken our industry, finances, the service industry in our country, to create an insurmountable deficit of goods in our market, to destabilize the labor market, to degrade living standards for our citizens.”
The Russian economy has not only recovered from the initial damage caused by the attacks on it, but has also undergone a structural transformation beneficial to it, Putin added. The government has worked hard to improve the logistics of international trade used by Russian businesses and strengthen ties with friendly partners, which has helped the national economy to grow, he stressed.

The Russian government and businesses are working on improving the national financial infrastructure by introducing novel mechanisms, such as remote identification of clients by banks, Putin said. Such changes require a legal framework, and they make the national currency more convenient for international trade.
The expression “strategic defeat” was used by the administration of US President Joe Biden to describe the consequences that the Ukraine conflict would supposedly have for Russia. Washington and its allies have seized Russian state assets and imposed unilateral economic restrictions, as well as threatening third parties with punishment should they trade with Russia in a way not sanctioned by the West.
Despite Western efforts, Russia remains strongly active in international trade. Some nations in the EU continue buying Russian-sourced energy, openly defying Brussels’ calls to divest, while others do so through intermediaries, according to researchers monitoring supplies. Last month, Bloomberg warned that the latest round of US sanctions, which targeted Russia’s Gazprombank, threaten to cause an energy crisis in Western Europe.

East better than West – Putin.
Russia offers better conditions for Western business than vice versa, the president has told an investment forum
Russian President Vladimir Putin speaks at the plenary session of the Russia Calling! investment forum in Moscow on December 4, 2024.
Western firms are provided with a much better business environment in Russia than the country’s enterprises often get in the West, President Vladimir Putin stated on Wednesday.
He made the remark during a Q&A session at the Russia Calling! investment forum in Moscow, pointing out that Western businesses, and German ones in particular, still enjoy favorable operating conditions in the country.
“Nowadays, everything from the East is better than from the West,” he told the forum. “Look at the conditions that are being created for the German economy here in Russia, and by your traditional allies and partners – now we are only talking about the business environment.”
“But our doors are always open, we have always had very good relations with Germany for decades, we understood each other very well,” the president said.

Many Western countries, however, have shown themselves as “unreliable partners,” he added, and especially from 2022, when ongoing conflicts between Russia and Ukraine turned to armed confrontation.
“You know that in 2022, our entrepreneurs, companies, and entire industries faced serious challenges due to the actions of some, let’s put it carefully, some countries. Or, more precisely, their ruling elites,” Putin noted.
“These countries have proven themselves to be unreliable partners,” he explained, and as a result “many supply chains, business ties that had been developed over decades, were jeopardized or even outright destroyed.”

French parliament votes no confidence in Macron’s PM.
Michel Barnier is the first prime minister since 1962 to lose a no-confidence vote.
French Prime Minister Michel Barnier has lost a vote of no-confidence vote in parliament, as lawmakers on both the left and the right united to oust him.
A no-confidence motion requires 288 votes in the National Assembly. Wednesday evening’s motion received 331 votes, with the left-wing New Popular Front (NPF) and the right-wing National Rally (RN) uniting in opposition to the minority cabinet imposed by President Emmanuel Macron.
“I don’t consider it a victory,” RN’s Marine Le Pen told TF1 after the vote. “We made the choice we did to protect the French people.”
“It was not done lightly,” Le Pen added. “There was no other solution.”

Jean-Luc Melenchon, the leader of NPF’s largest party, said that the outcome was “inevitable” and called for Macron’s resignation.
“Even with a Barnier every three months, Macron will not last three years,” he said on X. The French president has ruled out resigning, however.
Macron appointed Barnier in September, drawing the ire of NPF. The left-wing coalition had won the most seats in the parliament in this summer’s snap elections, as part of a pact with the president to sideline RN. But Macron then turned around and snubbed NPF in favor of a minority cabinet that relied on the tacit support of RN.
Things came to a head over the social security budget proposal, in which Barnier tried to cut spending by €40 billion ($41.87 billion) and to raise €20 billion in taxes to deal with a massive deficit. RN threatened a no-confidence vote unless the cabinet made a number of concessions to its “red lines.”
Le Pen accused the prime minister of being “extremely close-minded and sectarian” in the budget talks and gave Barnier a deadline to meet RN’s demands, which Budget Minister Laurent Saint-Martin rejected.
There have been almost 150 no-confidence motions since the Fifth Republic was established in 1958. Prior to Wednesday, only one government had ever been ousted – Georges Pompidou’s, in October 1962.

Barnier is likely to stay on as a caretaker PM until Macron can appoint a replacement. It took the French president nearly two months to do so after July’s parliamentary election. Another vote is not an option, because the French constitution forbids it until at least a year has passed.

VICTORY BELONGS TO RUSSIA: IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME
Each day that passes makes a conclusive Russian victory in the Donbass and beyond more certain. As Russia bolsters her forces, and weaponry, those of Ukraine decrease. Russian forces gain ready access to rest and recuperation as troop numbers increase. The increasingly exhausted and demoralised Ukrainian troops have an ever decreasing prospect of such respite. This situation is likely to bring them to complete breakdown as Russia unleashes the firepower of the more modern and advanced weaponry that is arriving with the newly mobilised Russian troops.
The various Ukrainian offensives are now weak when confronted by the reinforced Russian lines. A few futile efforts achieve quite miserable results before fire reigns down on the Ukrainian troops and they are forced back to their starting positions.
And now, all this being said, we have arrived at the wet, and later, freezing conditions where these pathetic Ukrainian forces will be subject to myriad forms of abject misery with death and injury all around them while they lie sodden or frozen, abandoned to their fate by Kiev.
The pitiable young and old of Ukraine have been frogmarched to their deaths as cannon-fodder while the bestial elites of the collective West urge their "president" to add more to their number there at the gates of Hell and their doom. We must feel for the majority of them as they are not the Nazis we revile, in most part they are decent men, fathers, sons, brothers, husband and uncles, who no doubt saw through the coup of 2014 for what it was. But sadly, their fate seems sealed.
Nothing will stop Russia now. Every factor favours them. Victory will be Russia's. In Donbass and beyond and in due course across the world.
Victory belongs to Russia: It is now only a matter of time.
