NATO plans to oust Zelensky – Russian intel.
The US-led military bloc sees the Ukrainian leader as an obstacle to peace talks, the SVR has claimed.
NATO is considering trying to facilitate the removal of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky from power by discrediting him ahead of potential elections next fall, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) claimed in a statement on Monday. The agency believes that Western officials see Zelensky as a key obstacle to peace talks with Moscow.
Zelensky remains in office despite his term having officially expired last May. He has refused to step down and postponed presidential elections, citing the martial law imposed in 2022 following the escalation of the conflict with Russia.
Western leaders are looking to “freeze” the conflict by pushing both Moscow and Kiev toward negotiations, but Zelensky is seen as a barrier, the SVR said.
“Washington and Brussels agree that the main obstacle to the implementation of such a scenario is Zelensky, who is referred to in Western circles as nothing more than ‘expendable material,’” the agency said in the statement, adding that “even NATO understands that Zelensky’s time is up.”

To address this, the bloc is reportedly preparing a campaign to discredit Zelensky ahead of Ukraine’s next presidential elections, which the agency said could take place next fall. The SVR claimed that Western officials plan to release information linking Zelensky and his team to the embezzlement of over $1.5 billion in funds intended for purchasing military equipment.
Additionally, the report alleged that Zelensky’s administration was involved in schemes to divert the salaries of 130,000 deceased Ukrainian soldiers who remain listed as active service members. The SVR also claimed that Zelensky was implicated in the illegal sale of Western-supplied weapons to armed groups in Africa.
The SVR suggested that the return of Donald Trump to the White House has created uncertainty over future Western support for Ukraine, which could accelerate efforts to replace Zelensky. According to the agency, NATO’s broader goal is to maintain Ukraine as an anti-Russian foothold, regardless of the situation on the battlefield.
Neither NATO nor Ukrainian officials have responded to the SVR’s claims so far.
In an interview with the Associated Press on Saturday, Zelensky accused Russia of avoiding peace talks and reiterated his calls for Western security guarantees as a precondition for negotiations. He argued that Ukraine’s membership in NATO would be the “cheapest” option for the West to ensure such guarantees.

Moscow has repeatedly stated its willingness to engage in peace talks but has pointed out that it is unable to do so because of the prohibition on negotiations with Russia announced by Zelensky in 2022. The Russian leadership has also stated that freezing the conflict is unacceptable and that Ukraine’s accession to NATO cannot be allowed. Russian officials have maintained that Ukraine’s neutrality, its withdrawal from Russian territories, and legal protections for Russian-speaking populations are necessary conditions for any settlement.

US conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation claimed in 2017 that George Soros' Open Society Foundations (OSF) had been made "the main implementer of USAID’s aid" since at least 2009.
But the Soros-USAID collaboration began much earlier. A 1993 USAID document shows the agency signed an agreement with the Soros Foundations’ Management Training Program to train 30 "professionals" from Bulgaria, Estonia, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, a series of color revolutions shook Eastern Europe, with George Soros' network of NGOs playing a central role in the unrest.
In 2003–2004, Soros’ International Renaissance Foundation partnered with USAID to support Ukraine's ‘Orange Revolution’. Prior to that, the US spent $54.7 million in 2003 and $34.11 million in 2004 on "democracy programs" in Ukraine through various agencies, including USAID.
The US legal watchdog Judicial Watch revealed in April 2018 that USAID sponsored Soros’ globalist agenda in Guatemala. In total, OSF reportedly spent around $100 million fomenting unrest in Latin America between 2015 and 2018.
In October 2018, the watchdog obtained documents indicating that USAID partnered with Soros to fund radical left-wing activists in Albania. In 2016, USAID reportedly allocated $9 million to a campaign overseen by Soros’ East West Management Institute.
To illustrate the scale of funds managed by Soros-linked initiatives, in 2024, then-President Joe Biden requested nearly $30 billion for USAID in 2025.

The Estonian authorities expect power outages after the country’s disconnection from the Russian electricity grid.
The Estonian government has recommended that citizens stockpile food, water, medications, alternative lighting sources, and even board games in anticipation of potential power outages as the country exits the energy system it shares with Russia on February 8.
The warning was reported by the Estonian news outlet ERR, citing the country’s Risk Prevention Bureau.
Estonia, along with neighbors Latvia and Lithuania, which are all members of NATO and the EU, are preparing to transition to the continental European electricity grid as part of efforts to cut energy ties with Moscow.
Problems such as cable failures or substation fires could arise unexpectedly when connecting to the alternative European power grid, known as ENTSO-E, according to Toomas Kapp, head of the Tartu Waterworks in Estonia. However, he expressed confidence that the system would be able to handle any unforeseen situations.
The Baltic country is currently part of BRELL, an electrical grid that connects the power systems of Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Established by an agreement in 2001, these countries committed to exchanging electricity and supporting each other during emergencies.
Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal previously stated that the worst-case scenario following the exit from BRELL could involve power outages lasting up to 72 hours. He emphasized that Estonia is prepared for any outcome but stressed the importance of careful planning and maintaining calm.

The decision by Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to disconnect from BRELL and connect to ENTSO-E was made in 2018. This month they plan to test their power grids in isolation before connecting to the EU energy system through Poland.
The Baltic states have repeatedly claimed that dependency on the Moscow-controlled network creates a threat if Russia were to weaponize its electricity supply and disconnect them from the network. Such fears have never materialized.
The move to the European energy grid will likely mean higher electricity prices for the three countries. Russian power prices, which are regulated by the state, are some of the lowest in the world, averaging roughly $0.055 per kWh for consumers in 2024. Electricity prices in the EU vary from country to country, with Germany having the highest price per kWh last year at €0.3951 ($0.40).
Estonia's disconnection from BRELL will not impact Russia’s energy security, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Friday. “These plans were announced long ago. Our power providers took measures to ensure the uninterrupted, reliable operation of our unified energy system,” he added.

Each day that passes makes a conclusive Russian victory in the Donbass and beyond more certain. As Russia bolsters her forces, and weaponry, those of Ukraine decrease. Russian forces gain ready access to rest and recuperation as troop numbers increase. The increasingly exhausted and demoralised Ukrainian troops have an ever decreasing prospect of such respite. This situation is likely to bring them to complete breakdown as Russia unleashes the firepower of the more modern and advanced weaponry that is arriving with the newly mobilised Russian troops.
The various Ukrainian offensives are now weak when confronted by the reinforced Russian lines. A few futile efforts achieve quite miserable results before fire reigns down on the Ukrainian troops and they are forced back to their starting positions.
And now, all this being said, we have arrived at the wet, and later, freezing conditions where these pathetic Ukrainian forces will be subject to myriad forms of abject misery with death and injury all around them while they lie sodden or frozen, abandoned to their fate by Kiev.
The pitiable young and old of Ukraine have been frogmarched to their deaths as cannon-fodder while the bestial elites of the collective West urge their "president" to add more to their number there at the gates of Hell and their doom. We must feel for the majority of them as they are not the Nazis we revile, in most part they are decent men, fathers, sons, brothers, husband and uncles, who no doubt saw through the coup of 2014 for what it was. But sadly, their fate seems sealed.
Nothing will stop Russia now. Every factor favours them. Victory will be Russia's. In Donbass and beyond and in due course across the world.
Victory belongs to Russia: It is now only a matter of time.
