“Ukraine. What is the truth...?
Why won’t western media tell both sides…?”
VIRTUALLY UNREPORTED ATROCITY IN LUGANSK, 2nd JUNE 2014
A lot has been said about atrocities in the western media claimed to have been perpetrated by the Russians, for example at Bucha and Mariupol among others. These assertions are conveyed on the say so of the Ukrainian authorities. How willing though are western news broadcasters to convey atrocities attributed to the Ukrainians? The following will I think provide the answer.
If anyone wonders if they are receiving accurate coverage of the conflict in Ukraine I would suggest watching the video below of an event which occurred on the 2nd of June 2014 and ask themselves if they recall hearing about it on any mainstream media news channel at the time.
The video is harrowing to watch. The bodies (five women and three men) are real. Yet across western media there was only one single news report that occurred a day later. This was from CNN and occurred only because a CNN team happened to be nearby at the time of the atrocity and so the network could hardly ignore it as all others so obviously did.
The video below shows the unvarnished truth that was not considered newsworthy in western mainstream news.
THE SINGLE WESTERN MSM REPORT ON THE LUGANSK ATROCITY, 3rd JUNE 2014
The video at the CNN link below is the crime scene sanitised by CNN, though played straight with honest reporting on the scene not playing things to Kiev’s tune.
(There was a time early in the war in the Donbass when CNN were not afraid to contradict the Ukrainian regime in Kiev.) Watch, because it's the first and last time you will see this.

West ‘playing with fire’ – Moscow.
Ukraine has increased attacks on Russian border regions using NATO-supplied missiles and bombs.
The West is risking further escalation by arming Ukraine and encouraging it to strike Russian territory, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday.
Ukrainian strikes on Russian cities have intensified since Kiev began losing ground in Kharkov Region.
“The profile of the American and British handlers of the [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky regime is clearly visible behind these barbaric attacks,” Zakharova told reporters. “They are not only providing longer-range missiles and heavy weapons, but are giving the green light for their use against Russia.”
“Once again, we would like to unequivocally warn Washington, London, Brussels and other Western capitals, as well as Kiev, which is under their control, that they are playing with fire. Russia will not leave such encroachments on its territory unanswered,” the spokeswoman stressed.
On Thursday and Friday, Ukrainian troops launched a combined assault on Crimea, Krasnodar and other Russian regions using UAVs and naval drones. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, more than 100 drones were intercepted mid-air, while six unmanned boats were destroyed by the Black Sea Fleet.
During its briefing on Friday, the MOD added that over the past week Russian troops have intercepted dozens of US-made ATACMS missiles, as well as nearly 200 rockets, including projectiles fired from US-made HIMARS and Czech-made Vampire launchers. Hammer guided bombs delivered by France, Storm Shadow cruise missiles made by the UK, and nearly 330 UAVs were also used in the attacks, it said.

A total of 19 civilians were killed in Russia’s Belgorod region on May 12 alone, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said. On Friday, Gladkov wrote on Telegram that a Ukrainian drone had hit a civilian car in Belgorod, killing a mother and her four-year-old daughter.
On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated that the shelling of residential areas is pushing Moscow to create a buffer zone along the border with Ukraine. “If this continues, we will be forced to create a security zone. This is what we are doing,” he said during his trip to China.
Last month, the New York Times cited senior Pentagon officials as saying that the US had allowed Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles against targets in Crimea. British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps confirmed to journalists on Tuesday that London allows Kiev to strike Crimea with UK-supplied weapons.
The largely Russian-speaking peninsula voted in 2014 to leave Ukraine and join Russia following the Western-backed coup in Kiev that took place earlier that year.

Eurasian Security with Zero Euro-Atlantic Flavor – Lavrov Unveils Details of Putin-Xi Talks.
Putin concluded his visit to China this week, where he met his counterpart Xi Jinping and discussed issues of mutual cooperation in the global economy and politics.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping discussed the Beijing global security initiative during the former's recent visit, Russia’s top diplomat Sergey Lavrov said at the XXXII Assembly of the Council on Foreign and Defensive Policy.
“Chairman Xi Jinping’s initiative on global security was discussed during our visit to China at meetings both within the framework of delegations and at a meeting in a narrow group of leaders face to face. We see great reason that the practical promotion of the idea of ensuring global security would begin with the formation of the foundations of Eurasian security without any Euro-Atlantic flavor,” he said.
The minister noted that Russia remains open to dialogue with the West, including on the issues of security and strategic stability.
“But, firstly, not from a position of strength, not from a position of one’s own exclusivity, but only on equal terms and with respect for each other’s interests,” Lavrov underscored.
The second important point for Russia, he added, is that the dialogue must be conducted with the full scope of the problems that exist in today's world in the field of strategic stability and the military-political landscape.
During his visit to China, Putin stressed that the Moscow-Beijing relationship is one of the main stabilizing factors in global politics.
"It is of fundamental importance that the Russia-China relationship is not opportunistic and not directed against anyone. Our cooperation in world affairs today is one of the main stabilizing factors in the international arena," the Russian president said.

EU doesn’t tolerate freedom of speech – Moscow.
Brussels talks about free speech but doesn’t uphold it, the chairman of Russia’s lower house of parliament has said.
Russia’s State Duma chairman has accused the EU of censoring alternative opinions and curtailing freedom of speech, with the goal of deceiving citizens.
Vyacheslav Volodin was commenting on Brussels’ latest ban on Russian media outlets, which has sparked a warning of countermeasures from the Foreign Ministry in Moscow.
On Friday, the European Council announced it was suspending the broadcasting activities of four additional media organizations, claiming that they “spread and support” Russian propaganda.
The blacklist includes RIA Novosti news agency, newspapers Izvestia and Rossiyskaya Gazeta, and the Czech-based portal Voice of Europe.
Writing on Telegram on Saturday, Volodin described the move as showing the EU’s desire “to close access to objective and reliable information” for residents of member states.
According to the lawmaker, “the policy of double standards has become an integral part of European structures” as they only “talk about freedom of speech, but do not tolerate it in reality”.

Officials in Brussels have no arguments to convince EU citizens that they are right and as soon as they see any problems, they just block “any alternative point of view, destroy freedom of speech, and violate the right to freely disseminate and receive information,” Volodin stressed.
“In fact, they introduce censorship with the only purpose – to deceive their citizens and stay in power,” he argued.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, commenting on Brussels’ move, noted that Moscow has repeatedly warned the EU that “repressive measures” against Russian media will not go unanswered.
“Ignoring these warnings forces us to take countermeasures, which will follow inevitably,” the ministry’s spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova said on Friday.
According to the diplomat, Brussel’s decision is proof “of the neglect by the EU and its member states for their international obligations in the field of ensuring media pluralism and another example of the degeneration of democratic societies” in the West.
Since the Ukraine conflict escalated into open hostilities in February 2022, the EU has barred several Russia-associated media outlets from engaging with audiences in member states. Even hosting content made by the targeted organizations is illegal in the bloc.
Moscow has also taken a harsh stance on Western media. Citing anti-Russian sentiment, misinformation and censorship, the national media regulator has barred access to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and the websites of the BBC, Deutsche Welle, along with other media outlets.

'Shake Off the Shackles': France Struggles to Keep Its Colonies.
Since the 1998 Nouméa Accord, France agreed to give the island nation more political power, with only New Caledonia natives and long-term residents being eligible to vote in provincial elections and local referendums.
On Thursday, Sputnik reported that the French government had deployed military units to New Caledonia after a state of emergency was declared in the French Island Territory amid violent mass protests. The unrest is a response to Paris-backed changes to local voting laws. The island nation is between Australia and Fiji, and has been a French territory since the 19th Century. The indigenous Kanak people make up about 40% of the population.
The peace activist, writer and teacher, KJ Noh and analyst Steve Poikonen sat down with Sputnik’s The Critical Hour on Friday and discussed the ongoing unrest in the island nation.
“This was originally a British slave colony, and then it became a French slave colony and a French penal colony that looked a little bit like Australia. And the indigenous Kanak people were enslaved. They were kept in reservations,” Noh explained. “Essentially, an independence movement started after WWII, and it was violent and brutal. It was not unlike what we saw in Algeria with the French doing violent counter insurgency.”
“But eventually the French decided that they would make accommodations with the Kanak people for independence, and in 1988, they signed what's called the Matignon Agreement, agreeing that within 10 years, they would hold a referendum for full independence. When 1998 came around, the French, instead of holding the referendum, said, ‘oh, you have to wait another 20 years’. This is called the Nouméa Accord, and this was essentially kicking the can down the road for another 20 years,” Noh suggested.
“This new legislation from Paris, it has said that new settlers to Caledonia can vote in Caledonian elections, including the referendum. This is essentially a plan to prevent independence,” he added. “It's very, very clear. And not only do they want to allow new settlers, new European, new French settlers to vote, but also the French still control immigration. So they decide who gets to go into Caledonia and who gets essentially to tilt the voting public.”
On Thursday, France accused Azerbaijan of fomenting the riots in New Caledonia, with French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin saying that the violence has been actively supported by Azerbaijan. Philippe Gomes, the former president of the government of New Caledonia has also claimed that Azerbaijan is bankrolling the pro-independence Kanak and Socialist National Liberation Front. The Eastern European country has strongly rejected the accusations.
“Azerbaijan has always been a strong supporter of the nonaligned movement. And with their Baku Initiative Group, they have, you know, strongly verbally supported these independence movements in the French territories, and the French are using this to characterize this as external interference,” Noh explained.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly accused France of neocolonialism and supported independence from France. The country has also founded the Baku Initiative Group, which brings together 14 political movements across the former French Empire in an effort to decolonize.
“We have to understand this in the larger global context, which is that this essentially is yet another signal of the rise of the multipolar world that is colonized countries taking out the colonizer,” he added. “They no longer want to be colonial or neocolonial vassals of France, regardless of how the French characterize it. They want to shake off those colonial shackles.”
“The French do not want to give up their empire,” said Noh. “They want to keep their colonies, and then, of course, there are domestic considerations as well. Macron is not looking good. He does not want to be the one who lost yet another territory.”
Commenting on the French neocolonial ambitions Poikonen highlighted the recent fails of Paris in maintaining control over what used to be its overseas territories.
“They got frog-marched out of Niger, and Mali and Burkina Faso. The nickel that they want from New Caledonia is just part of the green energy jam where they're trying to sell people a sustainable future built on, you know, harvesting all the rest of the minerals out of the ground and destroying the planet in the process,” the analyst clarified.
“And Macron knows that but he lost what 70% of France's uranium when they got kicked out of Niger. They're losing contracts. The thing that they're ultimately fighting over, I think, is to maintain some sort of international influence as far as shipping lanes are concerned. And, other than that, save face and try not to look like they're getting spanked everywhere they go, everywhere they are,” Poikonen added.
