A lot has been said about atrocities in the western media claimed to have been perpetrated by the Russians, for example at Bucha and Mariupol among others. These assertions are conveyed on the say so of the Ukrainian authorities. How willing though are western news broadcasters to convey atrocities attributed to the Ukrainians? The following will I think provide the answer.
If anyone wonders if they are receiving accurate coverage of the conflict in Ukraine I would suggest watching the video below of an event which occurred on the 2nd of June 2014 and ask themselves if they recall hearing about it on any mainstream media news channel at the time.
The video is harrowing to watch. The bodies (five women and three men) are real. Yet across western media there was only one single news report that occurred a day later. This was from CNN and occurred only because a CNN team happened to be nearby at the time of the atrocity and so the network could hardly ignore it as all others so obviously did.

The conflict with Russia has created new opportunities for bribes, kickbacks and theft in Ukraine, the US military’s inspector general told Congress in the quarterly report on the $113 billion in aid sent to Kiev.
Department of Defense Inspector General Robert Storch also serves as the special inspector for Operation Atlantic Resolve, the US-led operation to arm Ukraine.
“The ongoing war with Russia has created new opportunities for corruption, with several recent scandals within the defense sector revealing the misuse of wartime resources and weapons procurement funds,” the report said.
“Endemic corruption persists” in Ukraine, which remains “one of the least accountable governments in Europe,” according to the Pentagon’s inspector-general.
“Bribes, kickbacks, and inflated procurement costs are common risks for corruption within the Ministry of Defense,” leading to purchases of “inferior equipment” or “diversion of funds” intended for food and ammunition, according to the report.

Earlier this week, Ukrainian media reported the claims of one anti-corruption activist that Kharkov Region authorities embezzled or stole 7 billion hryvnias ($176.5 million) they were given to build fortifications along the border. The lack of defenses has resulted in Russian troops overrunning a dozen settlements in short order.
No-bid contracts worth millions were given to cronies or freshly created companies run by people with criminal records, Martina Boguslavets wrote in Ukrainska Pravda.
According to the Pentagon, Transparency International ranked Ukraine 144th out of 177 countries back in 2014. Kiev has since improved, taking the 104th place out of 180 countries in the 2023 annual global Corruption Perceptions Index.
Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) has investigated “several high-ranking officials in the government and judiciary accused of accepting bribes and embezzling worth more than $100 million,” Storch’s report said, citing the US State Department.
Washington has urged Kiev to expand anti-corruption measures by giving the NABU independent forensic capabilities and the ability to spy on Ukrainians independently of the SBU security service, Storch revealed.
The inspector-general’s report looked at the $113 billion in aid appropriated for Ukraine by the end of March 2024. Along with direct military and humanitarian aid to Kiev, this amount includes “security assistance to NATO allies and other partners, funding to support the US military presence in Europe, and the replenishment of military stocks provided to the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” Storch noted.

The decision to switch mostly to rubles and yuan was “timely” and has led to a strong boost in trade, the president says.
The vast majority of transactions between Russia and China are now carried out in national currencies, bypassing the US dollar, President Vladimir Putin has said.
Speaking at a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, in Beijing on Thursday, Putin heaped praise on the deep level of cooperation between the two powers, especially in trade.
Relations between Moscow and Beijing are based on “the principles of mutual respect, good neighborliness, and mutual benefit,” Putin said. He added that despite the coronavirus pandemic and “some actions aimed at constraining our development” by third countries, the volume of trade is steadily increasing, as both countries have built a solid investment portfolio in various fields.
“A powerful impetus to expand our trade flows was given by our timely joint decision to ensure that transactions are conducted in national currencies. As of today, 90% of all payments are made in rubles and yuan,” the Russian president said.

According to Putin, trade turnover between Russia and China soared by almost 25% in 2023, reaching $227 billion.
Putin is on a two-day state visit to China, his first foreign trip since his inauguration for a fifth term as president earlier this month. The Russian and Chinese leaders, as well as senior officials from both countries, are expected to hold talks on a wide range of issues such as bilateral relations, economic cooperation and the international situation, including the Ukraine conflict.
The Russian president has said that while Moscow has never sought the “dedollarization” of the national or international economy, this process is “inevitable.” Putin has particularly rebuked Washington for using its currency as a “tool of combat,” which he said is undermining global confidence.
After the start of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022, the US cut off Russia’s central bank from dollar transactions and later banned the export of dollar banknotes to the country. Putin has called Washington’s restrictions “complete foolishness” that only serve to undercut US power and its economy.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has hailed ties with Moscow as a “model of relations between large powers,” as he met with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in Beijing on Thursday. The Russian leader also talked up ties between the two countries, emphasizing that they are not a threat to other nations.
Putin arrived in Beijing on Thursday for a state visit – the first since he was sworn in for a fifth term as president earlier this month. The Russian delegation also includes a number of ministers, with negotiations expected on a range of joint projects.
During the meeting, Xi said relations between modern-day China and Russia, which span nearly 75 years, have been “tempered in difficult conditions [and] stood the test of a fickle international situation.”
Ties between Beijing and Moscow are a “model of relations between large powers and neighboring states, characterized by mutual respect, trust, friendship and mutual benefit,” the Chinese president stated, adding that this cooperation is in the best interests of the world.
The Russian president agreed, saying, “our cooperation in world affairs is one of the main stabilizing factors on the international stage.” China and Russia both “defend the principles of fairness and the democratic world order based on the multipolar realities and international law,” he stressed, adding that relations between the two countries “are not aimed against anyone.”
According to Xi, the fact that he has met with Russian officials on so many occasions during the past few years has helped Beijing and Moscow plan ahead strategically and develop cooperation.
The Chinese leader said Beijing “highly appreciates” Putin’s choice of China for his first foreign visit in his new term in office.

Fico’s Enemies Risk Slovak ‘Civil War’ to Keep EU Leaders in Line on Ukraine.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico survived an assassination attempt Wednesday, suffering serious wounds to his stomach, arms and legs, but remaining alive. The attack sparked a major spike in tensions in Slovakia and across Europe. Sputnik asked a pair of prominent European political analysts why Fico may have been targeted, and what happens next.
Slovakia is facing the most dangerous period in its modern history in the wake of the attempt on the prime minister’s life, with Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok warning that the country is on the brink of a “civil war” following Wednesday’s “politically motivated” shooting.
“What was unleashed, the hatred that was sown, has today become a storm. We are standing on the brink of civil war. This assassination attempt against the prime minister is confirmation of that,” Estok told reporters in a press conference.
“I want to appeal to the public, to journalists and to all politicians to stop spreading hatred,” Estok urged, asking media and ordinary Slovaks alike to “stop attacks and hatred on social networks and media.”
“The inability to accept the will of some part of the public which some group of people does not like is the result we have reached today. What has been unleashed in recent weeks and months is incomprehensible and it is our job to stop it,” he added.
Fico, 59, is now in serious but stable condition after undergoing hours of emergency surgery following Wednesday’s shooting. It remains unclear whether he will be able to return to his duties.
A career wildcard politician with a penchant for stepping on powerful toes, Fico has served as Slovakia’s prime minister for 11 of the past 18 years, with his Smer Party, running on a distinct blend of economic social democracy, social conservativism and Slovakian patriotism, forming four governments (three coalitions and one outright majority) – the latest in October 2023.
Throughout his career and particularly during his latest term, Fico made an array of enemies, including:
NATO - after he vowed to block the delivery of weapons to Kiev and promised to review Slovakia’s security arrangements with the United States.
The European Union – which has accused him of “democratic backsliding” and “flouting European norms” over his government’s criminal code reforms.
The Zelensky regime – after Fico expressed fervent opposition to Kiev’s membership in NATO, and characterized Russia’s military operation in Ukraine as a result of neo-Nazis running rampant in Ukraine, and of the Western alliance’s expansion toward Russia’s borders.
Other powerful regional and global political and economic interests, after he promised to launch an independent inquiry into the EU’s harsh pandemic policies, to look into “all sorts of drugs [that] were pushed into people,” and to reject mandatory Covid vax campaigns as “nonsense [that] could only be invented by greedy pharmaceutical companies.”
Unprecedented Social Polarization
“There is social polarization and political antagonism in all of Europe, but usually nobody is shooting at prime ministers. [This happened] only in Slovakia,” Dimitris Konstantakopoulos, a former security and foreign policy advisor to late former Greek Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou, told Sputnik, commenting on the dangerous situation which has developed in the heart of Europe in the wake of the attempt on Fico’s life.
Pointing to Prime Minister Fico’s “very different policy” from that of most European nations when it comes to the conflict in Ukraine and ties with Russia, and recalling the “campaign of hate from the Western press” Fico has faced in recent months over his policy positions, Konstantakopoulos said that while it may be too early to say with certainty who was responsible for his attempted murder, the mood in the European street is clear.
“What people will think all around Europe is that this is a signal to any politician who would like to disagree with the main NATO and the European Union policies – that he has to be careful not to be assassinated,” the observer said.
The turn to violence may indicate a new readiness by Fico's would-be assassins to take “non-political” “extra measures to impose discipline on all members” of the bloc, in addition to other tools in their toolbox which have already been deployed.
“I will remind you that they have already blown up the Nord Stream pipeline, and we’ve also had the assassination or attempted assassination of Russian journalists and politicians inside Russia. So it seems that [going back] long ago there was a ‘war party’ in the West which has decided not to permit a Russian victory in Ukraine. And that means using all possible means,” Konstantakopoulos stressed.
Violence isn’t the only means available to hardline anti-Russian forces seeking to “discipline” Europe's unruly leaders, according to the observer, who recalled that in neighboring Hungary, Viktor Orban has been privately threatened with the utter destruction of his economy if he vetoes Ukraine’s bid to join the EU.
Fico’s government is a potential threat to the forces that be precisely because it represents a unique phenomenon in Europe, in Konstantakopoulos’ view, with the politician proving able to push through his agenda of engagement with Russia and staying out of the Ukrainian quagmire. The observer recalled that in his home country, Greece, while “75 percent of the population is against sending arms to Ukraine,” this has not been “an obstacle to the government to continue sending arms.”
Pretext for Free Speech Clampdown?
Dr. George Szamuely, an author and research fellow at the Global Policy Institute, a London-based international affairs think tank, told Sputnik that the “very concerning and alarming” development in Slovakia could result in new attempts “to crack down on political speech” and social media in Europe, with the powers that be “desperately” wanting to expand censorship, and would have no qualms about using the attempt on Fico’s life as a pretext.
“I think the most likely outcome will be growing pressure for censorship of social media, particularly, Facebook*, particularly Twitter. Even though for months and months we've been hearing about how Elon Musk has allowed ‘Nazism,’ ‘racism’, ‘anti-Semitism’ to flourish on X (which used to be Twitter). And the EU has been warning him for some time that it's going to take measures against him, particularly under this Digital Services Act,” Szamuely recalled.
“The powerful forces within the EU, what do they have within their crosshairs? They have within their crosshairs the populist movements. They hate the populist movements. They're afraid of them. And they're going to use this to censor and crack down on the populist movements. I wouldn't be surprised if, again, within the next six months the Alternative for Germany party will be banned altogether in Germany,” he added.
“There's a lot of fear and resentment about Europe's economic decline...There's a lot of fear about where this war in Ukraine is heading and particularly as political elites in Europe seem determined to continue to escalate. That, I think, is causing a lot of anxiety in Europe. It is expressing itself in populism,” whether left wing, as in the case of Slovakia, or right wing, as in the case of Hungary and Germany, Szamuely said.
“Obviously, Fico antagonized a lot of powerful forces. And it's very important to note that the things he said about Ukraine and the origins of the war in Ukraine went far beyond anything Viktor Orban has said. Viktor Orban has simply made it a pragmatic issue, saying it has nothing to do with Hungarians, Hungary just wants this war to end. But he never really got into what really happened in Ukraine - Fico did. He said that this war was caused by fascists murdering Russians en masse. That's quite a serious charge to make. And he has done it. He said this in interview after interview. When you say things like that, you're clearly antagonizing powerful forces,” Szamuely said.
“Then, of course, there's also the Covid issue. He raised that, elevated that issue and was saying he's going to start investigating and possibly prosecuting people who had abused Covid and violated the civil liberties of Slovaks. And he's announced he's going to have nothing to do with the World Health Organization Pandemic Treaty. So that's a lot of powerful forces he's antagonized. Now, whether that led to the point of an assassination attempt, I don't know. But he's a serious political figure,” Szamuely summed up.

President Vladimir Putin is on an official visit to the Asian country to discuss strategic cooperation.
Moscow and Beijing could soon sign a contract for the construction of the mega pipeline Power of Siberia 2, which is slated to deliver Russian natural gas to China, Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Novak has said.
Power of Siberia 2 is expected to allow for up to 50 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas to be delivered annually from Yamal Region in northern Russia to China via Mongolia.
According to Novak, however, energy negotiations between Moscow and Beijing are not limited to Power of Siberia 2. “There are other new projects,” Novak revealed on Thursday in an interview with the TV channel Russia 1, without disclosing any details.
The statements come as Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing on Thursday for a two-day official visit, later meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. Putin and Xi are set to discuss bilateral ties and strategic cooperation between the two nations. About a dozen bilateral documents are expected to be signed during the visit, along with numerous commercial deals and regional agreements.
Russia currently supplies gas to China via Power of Siberia, a section of the so-called Eastern Route, under a bilateral 30-year agreement. Deliveries started in 2019, and the pipeline is expected to reach its full operational capacity of 38 bcm of natural gas annually by 2025.

The pipeline’s operator, Gazprom, has exceeded its contractual obligations on a regular basis throughout the past year, with daily records reported frequently. The company is projecting that gas supplies to Russia’s leading trading partner will grow further thanks to soaring demand.
Once all pipelines are fully operational, the volume of Russian gas supplies to China could reach nearly 100 bcm annually.

VICTORY BELONGS TO RUSSIA: IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME
Each day that passes makes a conclusive Russian victory in the Donbass and beyond more certain. As Russia bolsters her forces, and weaponry, those of Ukraine decrease. Russian forces gain ready access to rest and recuperation as troop numbers increase. The increasingly exhausted and demoralised Ukrainian troops have an ever decreasing prospect of such respite. This situation is likely to bring them to complete breakdown as Russia unleashes the firepower of the more modern and advanced weaponry that is arriving with the newly mobilised Russian troops.
The various Ukrainian offensives are now weak when confronted by the reinforced Russian lines. A few futile efforts achieve quite miserable results before fire reigns down on the Ukrainian troops and they are forced back to their starting positions.
And now, all this being said, we have arrived at the wet, and later, freezing conditions where these pathetic Ukrainian forces will be subject to myriad forms of abject misery with death and injury all around them while they lie sodden or frozen, abandoned to their fate by Kiev.
The pitiable young and old of Ukraine have been frogmarched to their deaths as cannon-fodder while the bestial elites of the collective West urge their "president" to add more to their number there at the gates of Hell and their doom. We must feel for the majority of them as they are not the Nazis we revile, in most part they are decent men, fathers, sons, brothers, husband and uncles, who no doubt saw through the coup of 2014 for what it was. But sadly, their fate seems sealed.
Nothing will stop Russia now. Every factor favours them. Victory will be Russia's. In Donbass and beyond and in due course across the world.
Victory belongs to Russia: It is now only a matter of time.

All they seem good at is starting new wars or pandemics to distract us all from how awful they are. But a new world is coming. One the warmongering westerners are fighting with all their might.
The political and media elites of the West are desperately trying to hold onto the power they have abused for centuries. Those whose forebears committed genocide against the Native Americans, who enslaved millions of Africans and who pillaged every corner of the world during the era of colonialism are desperately attempting to cling on to their misbegotten and manipulative power.
For those whose perpetual instinct is to grow and grab, to exploit and eliminate the clock is now running down to their extinction. The ruthless and manipulatively ambitious will soon find they are being replaced by honest brokers who have the wisdom to know that exploitation can never be sustainable over the long run. The era of the West dominating all others for its own gain is ending. Starting wars at the drop of a hat when their “national interests” are at stake, pushing those far from their borders into penury and worse for the sake of their greed-driven dreams of infinite wealth and influence… those days of cynical devastation are over.
The West has had its day and the weapons it became so used to using are being scrapped one by one. The use of sanctions for one has only succeeded in driving nations to seek shelter from the West in the arms of others. Creating ever more wars and using almost every device under the sun to undermine other nations has turned the majority of the world firmly against the West. More and more nations are lining up to join the BRICS group, so disgusted are they with the stranglehold over them that the western powers have used to abuse them for so long now.
There is a new way forward now, an escape route from which the ever-aggressive and super-arrogant West can be escaped from, no longer to be threatened by its economic, financial or military weaponry. Having lost all trust by their past abuses the western elites are now seeking to hammer the last nails into their own coffin through a final war against those now rejecting their continued abuse. Apparently completely blind to the effect of their actions these elites double down at every downturn, creating ever more loathing of them, mistrust of them and desire to escape their domination in the quickest and most effective way possible.
Nations are steadily gravitating east, leaving behind a West weltering in its own woke miasma of degradation. The still traditionally oriented nations of Eurasia, Central Asia, the Far East as well as across the Global South want little to nothing more to do with the obviously fast corroding and terminally descending West. Their spirits, clean as they are from a steadfast reliance on traditional ways of life, now have the chance to secure their cultures from the welter of western diseases of mind, body and spirit they see occurring. And now there will be no turning back.
By abandoning the West to its fate, its elites completely sunk in mindless and unwarranted self-belief predicated upon who knows what, the rest of the world can shuck off the greatest weapon the western powers have used against them, the dollar, the petrodollar. Once gone and progressively it IS going, the dollar can no longer be used as a threat, as blackmail in the criminal self-interest of the West. Once gone the last vestiges of western power will disappear leaving its elites devoid of the most powerful weapon with which to whip others into line. Weak and quarantined, the West will finally have to acknowledge it is only one interlinked part of the world community and thankfully, at last, no longer its eternally self-interested master.
