“Ukraine. What is the truth...?
Why won’t western media tell both sides…?”
VIRTUALLY UNREPORTED ATROCITY IN LUGANSK, 2nd JUNE 2014
A lot has been said about atrocities in the western media claimed to have been perpetrated by the Russians, for example at Bucha and Mariupol among others. These assertions are conveyed on the say so of the Ukrainian authorities. How willing though are western news broadcasters to convey atrocities attributed to the Ukrainians? The following will I think provide the answer.
If anyone wonders if they are receiving accurate coverage of the conflict in Ukraine I would suggest watching the video below of an event which occurred on the 2nd of June 2014 and ask themselves if they recall hearing about it on any mainstream media news channel at the time.
The video is harrowing to watch. The bodies (five women and three men) are real. Yet across western media there was only one single news report that occurred a day later. This was from CNN and occurred only because a CNN team happened to be nearby at the time of the atrocity and so the network could hardly ignore it as all others so obviously did.
The video below shows the unvarnished truth that was not considered newsworthy in western mainstream news.
THE SINGLE WESTERN MSM REPORT ON THE LUGANSK ATROCITY, 3rd JUNE 2014
The video at the CNN link below is the crime scene sanitised by CNN, though played straight with honest reporting on the scene not playing things to Kiev’s tune.
(There was a time early in the war in the Donbass when CNN were not afraid to contradict the Ukrainian regime in Kiev.) Watch, because it's the first and last time you will see this.

HISTORYLEGENDS: How Russia is Winning The Battle of Attrition in Ukraine.
Putin just announced Russia’s own Monroe Doctrine.
The president has cleared up any ambiguity about how Moscow will respond to any new threats in its backyard.
By Sergey Poletaev, information analyst and publicist, co-founder and editor of the Vatfor project.
On September 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced updates to the Foundations of State Policy of the Russian Federation in the Area of Nuclear Deterrence. The revised document implies that under certain conditions, Moscow may consider a proxy war against itself as justification for using nuclear weapons.
Salami tactics
Traditional nuclear deterrence doctrines date back to the Cold War and were developed with major world powers and military alliances in mind. The underlying assumption is that large states are unlikely to attack a nuclear power, since they risk facing a massive retaliatory strike.
However, the conflict in Ukraine has created a new and unprecedented reality: The West is waging war against Russia through a proxy state that shows little regard for its own self-preservation. At least under the grip of its current leadership.
Kiev actively attacks Russia’s historic territories. Incidents that have happened “for the first time since World War Two” are regularly reported in the news: e.g., a regional center being shelled in Russia, military facilities attacked in Volga Region or in the Kuban, or German-made tanks crossing into Kursk Region.
There have also been rumors of attacks on sites of Russia’s strategic nuclear forces. Such aggression is officially recognized as triggers for a nuclear response. Whether or not these rumors are true, this behavior is perfectly in line with the logic of Kiev and its Western sponsors. The goal is to use isolated drone strikes conducted by a proxy force to undermine Russia’s nuclear doctrine – or, speaking in IT terms, to hack it by means of a ‘zero-day exploit’.
Read more: Here’s why Putin decided to send a nuclear message to Washington
After all, would Putin really start a nuclear war over one drone crashing near a strategic bomber base? What about two drones? Or ten? Or perhaps a couple of drones combined with a Western-made cruise missile?
This exemplifies classic ‘salami slicing tactics’: gradually pressuring the opponent, forcing them to change their strategic position without providing sufficient grounds for the opponent to deploy their primary (in Russia’s case – nuclear) forces.
Staying behind the lines
The only real red line between Russia and the West – and specifically, between Moscow and Washington – is something that would force one side to dramatically escalate the conflict.
Both the Kremlin and the White House are currently adhering to the so-called limited war strategy. Why? Because Russia can’t afford to shoot itself in the head because of Ukraine, and in a similar way, the West doesn’t want to blow itself up because of Russia. Any dramatic escalation could result in such an outcome, making the situation unpredictable even without the use of nuclear weapons.
Neither Russia nor the US desires an escalation in the conflict. Rather, both are aiming to keep it within its current boundaries. It’s like in the fable about the snake and the turtle: if one side makes a sudden move, the other is forced to respond, which could lead to dire consequences. For Russia, an escalation means mobilizing all resources, a situation that is fraught with peril for the nation. For the West, escalation means directly intervening, with no guarantee of success and a high risk of heavy losses or even a nuclear exchange.
For now, Russia has imposed a war of attrition on its adversary. Clearly, the Kremlin believes that this strategy has a better chance of working out
The US seems to understand this and wants to disrupt the Kremlin’s plan by increasing the costs but keeping everything within its present boundaries. This is why it resorts to so-called salami tactics.
Read more: Here’s what Putin really meant by updating Russia’s nuclear doctrine
Some experts believe that the ban on long-range missile strikes deep into Russian territory is the only real agreement that exists between Putin and [US President Joe] Biden. It’s not that such strikes would significantly change things, but this serves as a benchmark, a point of reference that is more or less understandable to both sides.
If you try to destroy us by means of a proxy force, we will destroy both the proxy and you.
However, changes are about to happen in the White House. If the aforementioned agreements indeed exist, the Kremlin cannot be certain that the next administration will adhere to them.
This is why Russia needed to send a clear signal to the West (and to the whole world) about the current situation and how Russia will respond to various actions taken by the West.
Firstly, Moscow will not consider using nuclear weapons as long as it maintains the military initiative. Thus the likelihood of using nuclear weapons depends on its military success: if victory isn’t possible by conventional means, a nuclear strike becomes an option.
Secondly, because of this, Russia’s primary opponent (the US) cannot wage war against Russia directly and cannot arm the proxy state to such an extent as would change the course of the conflict. Therefore, the US must stay on the sidelines, watching as its proxy gradually loses the war. In this regard, nuclear deterrence is currently effective against the US and the West, at least until the administration in Washington changes. Putin’s new doctrine serves as a message and a warning to Biden’s successor.
Thirdly, the proxy state (Ukraine) is trying to find Russia’s weak spots and inflict a painful blow. As the situation on the front worsens for the Ukrainian forces, they may resort to more desperate measures, such as launching attacks on strategic missile deployment sites. These actions could potentially be effective. Will this provoke a nuclear response from Russia? Almost certainly not. The Kremlin is not considering a nuclear attack on Ukraine.
Why not? Because Ukraine does not pose a significant enough threat to justify starting a nuclear war. Russia can handle Ukraine through conventional means of warfare. And even though some incidents may be quite painful, they don’t change this reality.
Overall, Putin’s doctrine can be summarized as follows:
Fight weaker opponents with conventional forces and use nuclear deterrence to prevent major powers from intervening in ways that could turn these weaker opponents into serious threats.
Or, put simply: Russia will ensure its security as it sees fit, using the nuclear shield to deter anyone who might try to interfere.
Meanwhile, Ukraine serves as a vivid example of the fate that will befall any nation that wages war against Russia: it will be devastated, its industry and infrastructure will be destroyed, and it will suffer a demographic and economic collapse; as for the West, it will offer empty words of support, but in practice will push its proxy into the abyss.
One of the outcomes of Russia’s military operation should be a growing awareness among neighboring countries that looking for a fight with Moscow is a bad idea, and that NATO won’t be able to protect them.
Furthermore, the West must recognize that by inciting Russia’s neighbors to wage war against it, it risks prompting a nuclear war.
That is an approach James Monroe would certainly have approved of.

Moscow reacts to Germany’s arrest of couple for ‘illegal’ RT broadcasts.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted the arrest coincided with the International Day for Universal Access to Information.
Berlin has apparently opted to celebrate the International Day for Universal Access to Information with arrests, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said, after a couple in Germany was taken into custody on suspicion of broadcasting RT and other Russian TV channels via the internet.
Almost all Russian media organizations were banned in the EU in March 2022 after the conflict between Moscow and Kiev broke out.
The couple was arrested last week on the eve of the International Day for Universal Access to Information, marked annually on September 28. Speaking during a press conference at the UN on Saturday, Lavrov suggested the arrest was a questionable way to celebrate the occasion.
“I would like to speak of how this day is celebrated in Germany. It has been reported that a married couple has been arrested in Germany, they are suspected of organizing the broadcast of several Russian television channels on the internet,” Russia’s top diplomat stated.

Iran launches missiles at Israel as IDF enters Lebanon: LIVE UPDATES.
West Jerusalem announced the start of cross-border ground raids in the early hours of Tuesday.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the beginning of “limited, localized, and targeted ground raids” against the militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon on Tuesday. The move comes after two weeks of bombing by the Jewish state that killed over one thousand people and displaced one million more.
During the bombing campaign, the IDF killed several senior Hezbollah members, including the group’s long-time leader, Hassan Nasrallah. A rumored Israeli operation to simultaneously explode communications devices belonging to members of the militant group also reportedly killed children as well as its intended targets.
The goal of the IDF ‘incursion’ is to ensure the safety of citizens living in the northern part of Israel, West Jerusalem has claimed. Hezbollah has been launching barrages of rockets into Israel in what it had said was an act of solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.
The IDF occupied parts of southern Lebanon from 1982 to 2000 in what became known as the First Lebanon War in Israel.
Israel invaded Lebanon again in 2006, which resulted in a 34-day conflict with Hezbollah.

Palestinian militant group Hamas has hailed Iran’s “heroic” missile attack on Israel.
“We assert that this honorable Iranian response is a strong message to the Zionist enemy and its fascist government that will help deter and rein in their terrorism,” Hamas said in a statement.
Iran has said Tuesday’s missile barrage was a response to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas who was killed in July in Tehran, and to the killing in Lebanon last week of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.19:00 GMT
One Palestinian in the occupied West Bank was killed by shrapnel from an intercepted Iranian missile, Jericho Governor Hussein Hamayel confirmed.
”A Palestinian worker in Jericho was killed when pieces of a rocket fell from the sky and hit him,” Hamayel told AFP news agency.
The man, originally from Gaza, was identified as 38-year-old Sameh Khader al-Asali.
17:52 GMT
IDF Spokesman Daniel Hagari has said there is no longer any additional threat heading towards Israel from Iran and that civilians have been told that they may leave shelters.
“During the defense, we carried out quite a few interceptions.” Hagari reported, adding: “There are some impacts in the center and areas in the south of the country.”
He also said that Israel is “fully prepared to defend and retaliate” against an Iranian attack in a “timely manner.”17:43 GMT
According to the Times of Israel, only two injuries have been reported across Israel as a result of Iran’s missile attack.
Ambulance service Magen David Adom said those two people sustained minor shrapnel wounds in Tel Aviv. Others were injured while running to safety and some were treated for “anxiety,” it added.17:35 GMT
Iran’s missile attack against Israel is a response to the recent assassinations of the leaders of Hamas, Hezbollah and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the IRGC has said.
In a statement on Tuesday evening, the Iranian mission to the UN said Tehran’s “legal, rational, and legitimate response” to the “terrorist acts of the Zionist regime” has been “duly carried out.”
“Should the Zionist regime dare to respond or commit further acts of malevolence, a subsequent and crushing response will ensue,” the mission added.17:14 GMT
Iran has launched missiles at Israel, the IDF has announced, instructing civilians to “remain alert” and proceed to bomb shelters when they hear sirens.
“A short while ago, missiles were launched from Iran towards the State of Israel,” IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said in a video message.
Palestinian journalist Mohammed Khairy, reporting from Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, told Al Jazeera Arabic that dozens of missiles could be seen in the sky heading towards Israel.
“The missiles are going almost non-stop. The sirens are still going off. Until this moment, they can be heard over large areas in Israel,” he said.

16:19 GMT
IDF Spokesman Daniel Hagari has said an anticipated missile attack from Iran is likely to be large in scale.
“We ask the public to follow the Home Front Command guidelines. The fire from Iran could be wide in scope,” he told a press conference. He warned that when a siren sounds, citizens are asked to enter a protected area until notified otherwise.
Earlier reports suggested that the White House had warned Israel that Tehran was preparing for an “imminent” attack.15:30 GMT
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has called for an “immediate ceasefire” and de-escalation of the conflict in Lebanon amid fears that Israel’s offensive against Hezbollah could push the region into a wider war.
Guterres’ spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the UN chief believes an all-out war “must be avoided in Lebanon at all costs, and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon must be respected.”
He added that Guterres spoke with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Tuesday morning and said the UN’s systems in Lebanon are being mobilized to assist those in need.15:20 GMT
A Washington-based non-profit has blasted US President Joe Biden as “reckless” for giving Israel a “blank check” to launch a ground operation in Lebanon. In a statement, Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN) said the offensive is an “entirely predictable consequence” of the Biden administration’s “ceaseless coddling” of Israel.
DAWN added that a ceasefire in Lebanon will be “impossible” without first securing a truce in Gaza. Politico reported on Tuesday that the Biden administration secretly gave Israel the green light to invade Lebanon, despite publicly urging a ceasefire.15:08 GMT
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) has reported more airstrikes in southern Beirut, one of which reportedly occurred near a hospital.
According to Al Jazeera, NNC said a “violent enemy strike” hit a building near the Zahraa Hospital and only 500 meters from a shelter housing displaced people.
A second strike is reported to have hit a building close to the embassy of Kuwait.

EUROPE / UK
Britain goes full Orwell accusing Putin of imperialism.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy launched into a weird rant against Russia, accusing it of the crimes Britain has committed.
By Tarik Cyril Amar, a historian from Germany working at Koç University, Istanbul, on Russia, Ukraine, and Eastern Europe, the history of World War II, the cultural Cold War, and the politics of memory
There are intriguing and disappointing – though not surprising – continuities between Great Britain under the conservative Tories and the current iteration under a hardly less rightwing version of the Labour party. Crony corruption scandals that reveal the British political elite as comically greedy and petty are already erupting again. Ordinary people still face an unforgiving search for “austerity”; indeed, given recent Labour moves on the budget, for instance on the winter fuel allowance, affecting over ten million frequently vulnerable pensioners, the so-called “Left” is now outdoing the Right in cruelty toward the common man and woman. And the fairly new prime minister, Keir Starmer, is already as deeply unpopular as his predecessor Rishi Sunak was when he called the elections that predictably finished him off.
And then there is foreign policy. There as well, it is hard to spot a difference. It is true, we have just learned that, once, former Tory Prime Minister Boris Johnson was seriously considering an “aquatic raid” (say that with a Churchill growl, please) on the Netherlands, a NATO ally, to seize Covid vaccines. We have not yet heard of similarly exotic plots laid by Starmer. But otherwise, same old, same old. The UK elite remains fatally addicted to a blind loyalty toward its special relationship with the US that sometimes could make even the Germans blanch with envy. And they know a thing or two about absolute submission.
London also won’t let go of its position as Europe’s hottest cheerleader for the proxy war against Russia via Ukraine, at least outside the Baltics. Officially, the British government is still promoting the idea of co-launching Western-supplied missiles from Ukraine deep into Russia. Never mind that Moscow has made it clear that it will consider such a policy as bringing all of NATO and Russia into direct military conflict – not (barely) indirect as up until now. Moreover, the Russian leadership has also put the West on notice that cut-out games won’t work. The core point about its recent revision of Russia’s nuclear doctrine is that not only the ostentatious direct attacker state but its supporters as well are fair game – as they should be – for retaliation.
There may well be an element of fairly cheap theater in London’s posturing as a missile street tough. Think of a dog madly barking behind a closed gate, precisely because it knows the gate is closed and it won’t have to act on its ferocious threats. The role of the gate is played by Washington, which fails to allow the brilliant British-Ukrainian Armageddon-Come-and-Get-Us plan to go ahead, as the Telegraph has just bemoaned. How convenient: We’d be (insanely) brave, really, if only we didn’t have to be so obedient, too.
Read more: What does Putin have to do with Israel’s attacks on Lebanon?
Yet, at least as far as stentorian rhetoric is concerned, the UK’s government will certainly not be outdone. The problem with all the big talk, though, is that it can easily veer off into declarations so unusually hyperbolic and absurd that they backfire. Think of this current British mood as the very opposite of that fine understatement for which the island’s culture used to be famous. An example of this kind of self-defeating bombast was recently delivered by Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
Trying to reach an international audience, especially in a Global South that has long given up on the West, Lammy launched into a rant – there really is no other word – about Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin. The whole thing was rather cringe, as if trying to outdo his infamous German colleague Annalena ‘360 Degrees of Anti-Diplomacy’ Baerbock in demeaning his own office. Lammy, for instance, apparently felt no shame denouncing Moscow’s “disinformation” – that, from one of the West’s worst deniers and enablers of Israel’s many crimes, including its Gaza genocide and devastation of Lebanon. Frankly Russia, at this point: just wear it with pride.
But the perhaps most stunningly grotesque moment occurred when Lammy sought to make opportunistic use of the horrific history of modern slavery. “As a black man,” he stated, “whose ancestors were taken in chains from Africa, at the barrel of a gun to be enslaved, whose ancestors rose up and fought in a great rebellion of the enslaved” he had a special knack for recognizing “imperialism.” By that he meant, of course, Russian imperialism.
Since then, be assured, there has been much head scratching, perhaps especially in that Global South that Lammy tried so desperately to impress with his rhetorical kamikaze attack. Was not the British – cough, cough – Empire (as in imperialism) one of the worst participants in the Atlantic slave trade that produced 10 to 12 million Black victims?
Read more: The West is ensuring Kiev’s demise on purpose
During the process of hunting and enslaving human beings, “an estimated 10 to 15 percent of the captives died on their way” from the African interior to the coast. Then the so-called Middle Passage, the nightmarish deportation across the Atlantic killed another 10 to 25% of the victims. Apart from the effects of brutal overcrowding below deck, malnutrition, and psychological trauma, slave traders had a habit of “disposing” of those they considered worthless by dropping them into the sea, alive and chained to each other, sometimes to make an insurance profit. William Turner depicted such a massacre by drowning on, as it happened, a British slave ship, in one of his most famous paintings.
And for those who survived both capture in Africa and the Middle Passage: Was it not the US – Britain’s current boss and the site of Lammy’s rant – that literally built its economic take-off on slave labor so brutal the ancient Romans would have been either impressed or shocked? And what about that famous “value” West that Lammy also seeks to speak for? Comprehensively represented in the same great crime: the Portuguese, the Dutch, the French, you name it…
The result was not only death and brutality on a staggering scale. Parts of the African continent were also massively damaged demographically, economically, and politically. As summarized in Encyclopedia Britannica (as it happens), the transatlantic slave trade “had devastating effects in Africa. Economic incentives for warlords and tribes to engage in the trade of enslaved people promoted an atmosphere of lawlessness and violence. Depopulation and a continuing fear of captivity made economic and agricultural development almost impossible throughout much of western Africa. A large percentage of the people taken captive were women in their childbearing years and young men who normally would have been starting families. The European enslavers usually left behind persons who were elderly, disabled, or otherwise dependent groups who were least able to contribute to the economic health of their societies.” This was a holocaust for Africa. Historically, it is not long ago. Its scars are still there. And it was the West’s doing.
The point is not to pretend that Russia, at the same time, had no imperial history, including great violence and injustice. Empires do. Only the naive are in denial about that fact. Rather what is so striking is that, to go after Russia, Lammy could not think of anything better than to bring up one of the British Empire’s greatest crimes. At first sight, this is “merely” yet another example of Westerners losing all inhibitions when demonizing their geopolitical opponent. They are not even ashamed to openly cite their own worst crimes to do so. Orwellian indeed.
Read more: Olaf Scholz has a sudden moment of clarity about Russia
Yet there is something else here as well that is, if anything, even more insidious. Since the Ukraine War, we have seen a relentless and widespread effort to mis-appropriate the experience, the suffering, and the resistance of the Global South as a cheap rhetorical device to provide heroic spin for Zelensky’s regime and the West’s proxy war as well as cheap shots at Russia.
There is, of course, a politics of Left and Right here. Traditionally, and for good reasons, criticizing imperialism and colonialism has been a ‘left’ thing. By hijacking ostentatiously ‘anti-colonial’ terms for the proxy war in Ukraine, this potential on the Western Left was supposed to be channeled into serving the US-NATO-EU complex. With some, that rather perverse trick, transparent as it is, has even worked. Think of it as wearing a Che Guevara-print shirt and venerating Ukrainian Azov Neo-Nazis as ‘freedom fighters’.
Politically, this is just another way in which semi-smart people fool semi-simple people. But there is a more serious, moral dimension as well. It is a truly and abjectly colonial and imperialist move to exploit the massive suffering – almost exclusively at the hands of the West – as well as the hard-won insights and hard-fought resistance of what we now call the Global South so as to feed them into the cheap propaganda that the West now uses to sell its geopolitics-101 proxy war in Ukraine as an issue of ‘rules’ and ‘values’. And yet that is precisely what David Lammy has done. What a disgrace.
Britain goes full Orwell accusing Putin of imperialism.

Russia, China Settling 95% of Payments in Own Currencies - Russian Ambassador in China.
Today, 95% of settlements between Russia and China are carried out without the participation of third-country currencies, Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov said in an interview with Sputnik.
In March-April of this year, a slight decline was observed in bilateral Russian-Chinese trade. In particular, in March, for the first time since 2022, the total export of goods from China to Russia decreased year-on-year. Many attributed this to the difficulty of mutual settlements.
"As for the problem of settlements, let's not forget that today they are already 95% carried out in rubles and yuan, that is, without the participation of third-country currencies," Morgulov said.
Trade between China and Russia increased by 26.3% to a record $240.11 billion in 2023. Russian and Chinese leaders, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, previously set the goal of doubling trade from $100 billion a year in 2018 to $200 billion by 2024, a figure that was reached in November 2023. Russia and China celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations on October 2. The Soviet Union became the first country to recognize the People's Republic of China the day after its proclamation.

VICTORY BELONGS TO RUSSIA: IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME
Each day that passes makes a conclusive Russian victory in the Donbass and beyond more certain. As Russia bolsters her forces, and weaponry, those of Ukraine decrease. Russian forces gain ready access to rest and recuperation as troop numbers increase. The increasingly exhausted and demoralised Ukrainian troops have an ever decreasing prospect of such respite. This situation is likely to bring them to complete breakdown as Russia unleashes the firepower of the more modern and advanced weaponry that is arriving with the newly mobilised Russian troops.
The various Ukrainian offensives are now weak when confronted by the reinforced Russian lines. A few futile efforts achieve quite miserable results before fire reigns down on the Ukrainian troops and they are forced back to their starting positions.
And now, all this being said, we have arrived at the wet, and later, freezing conditions where these pathetic Ukrainian forces will be subject to myriad forms of abject misery with death and injury all around them while they lie sodden or frozen, abandoned to their fate by Kiev.
The pitiable young and old of Ukraine have been frogmarched to their deaths as cannon-fodder while the bestial elites of the collective West urge their "president" to add more to their number there at the gates of Hell and their doom. We must feel for the majority of them as they are not the Nazis we revile, in most part they are decent men, fathers, sons, brothers, husband and uncles, who no doubt saw through the coup of 2014 for what it was. But sadly, their fate seems sealed.
Nothing will stop Russia now. Every factor favours them. Victory will be Russia's. In Donbass and beyond and in due course across the world.
Victory belongs to Russia: It is now only a matter of time.

IN TRUTH THE WEST IS THE EVIL EMPIRE
From western politicians we hear how human rights and freedoms are the primary inalienable virtues that they are dedicated to mandating globally. This tends to indicate that those espousing these noble concepts are idealists. How does this stand up when compared with hard reality?
If we take the USA as our primary example, how convincing is it that the politicians there are the idealists that they quite clearly claim to be ?
To become a successful politician in the USA it is necessary to have a great deal of money behind you. You will almost certainly require to be a millionaire, or preferably a multi-millionaire. This requires most candidates to have been successful business men or women. Then, after succeeding in your quest you will require corporate sponsorship to remain in position. Your sponsors will then expect to receive something beneficial from you by return. If you then acquire a position in government the most powerful influence upon you will then quite clearly once again be your corporate sponsors. In addition, the lobbyists from the most powerful corporate interests will seek to gain concessions to their interests via government policy.
How likely is it, considering the plethora of corporate influence within the U.S. system that an idealist agenda will be formed at the core of U.S. government policy?
Let us now examine the milieu within which the corporate world of the USA operates.
Is it not fair to say that corporations in general seek always to expand without limit and in this quest to in turn seek to minimize the number of restrictions and regulations upon them and further, that bottom-line profitability is their primary concern? The most powerful corporations in the USA and elsewhere across the West are those within the so-called defense industry, those that comprise the military industrial complexes of those nations, those who thrive on war and the threat of war. How high in their list of general priorities do you think idealism would likely feature?
Just to reiterate, these are almost to a man and women and virtually of necessity, imbued with the ethical, moral and political precepts of the business community from start to finish. Where then does the idealism apparently espoused as the highest of priorities at the pinnacle of U.S. governmental activity have its genesis... If at all?
Arguably the U.S. corporate world is the most aggressive seen anywhere worldwide. The urgency with which its executives wish to expand is clear and the sometimes underhand, corrupt and downright criminal methods it exhibits are well known. Isn't it far more likely, knowing just how deeply embedded the business culture is in North American political life, that the policies espoused at the forefront of its foreign policy has at least something to do with the interests of doing business rather than with some idealistic desire to better the lot of humanity in general?
We are currently in China where the general thrust of government policy much more closely bears out the contention that something far closer to idealism is in operation. The government here MUST deliver benefits to the Chinese people to retain their trust and to remain securely in power. Those benefits can clearly be seen across a range of aspects from health care to education to transport and beyond.
In regard to international affairs, who is it that has clearly been in expansionist mode, attacking and invading nations in recent decades? Has it been China that has begun wars of choice or has it been the collective West? Which region of the world has the greatest, continuing incentive through its ideological or pecuniary stance to aggressively interfere in nations far beyond their borders?
Is the aggressive, profit-oriented and highly expansionist ideology of western capitalism, deeply embedded in the body politic of the West irrelevant when it comes to the policy of continual interference (for others benefit we are told) of the USA and its allies across the world?
I leave the question here for you to ponder. However, it is my contention that it is not the mostly quiescent east that imbues the characteristics of what has been called 'The Evil Empire', it is in fact in the west.
