RUSSIA MUST CONTINUE THE SPECIAL MILITARY OPERATION UNTIL TOTAL VICTORY
Neither the Ukrainian regime nor its sponsors can be trusted an inch. By close observation they in truth have no interest in negotiating in good faith with Russia. This leaves Russia only one option.
The Ukraine conflict will not be solved anywhere but on the battlefield. This is the sad fact for a war that should never have taken place. If the historical record is consulted any fair-minded person can see that Vladimir Putin walked every mile possible to resolve the situation that arose in south-eastern Ukraine in 2014 by peaceful means. Not once but twice Putin initiated talks designed to find a diplomatic way to avoid a violent resolution to the issues involved.
In the Spring of 2014 the Russian-speaking majority in south-eastern Ukraine responded to the ultra-violent insurrection, riots and subsequent coup against the president and government they had helped elect. Their democratic rights had been wrenched from them by ethnic Ukrainians who viewed all things Russian, including Russian-speakers as fir game to be driven from their homes, ethnically-cleansed and treated as sub-humans. When the Russian-speaking population saw what fate awaited them in this new, non-democratic Ukraine they decided to peacefully assert their autonomy to preserve their lives, loyalties, language and culture. They did this by taking over government offices across the region known as the Donbass in south-eastern Ukraine. The illegal, non-democratic, U.S.-chosen government that took over after the violent insurrection then sent the Ukrainian army to deal with the situation. This is where the subsequent events of 2022 had their genesis. In the years following 2014 as the Ukrainian army bombarded the Russian-speaking population with upward of 15,000 fatalities occurring between 2014 and 2022.
The above is the initial history that underpins the conflict in Ukraine along with the movement of NATO ever closer to Russia’s border since the unification of Germany when Russia was promised this would NOT occur. The glorification of Nazism and the Nazis by a violent, armed minority in western Ukraine and the coincident glorification of major Ukrainian Nazi collaborators during WWII by the Ukrainian government was also a major issue.
Subsequent to the above, all the issues involved were in dedicated fashion pursued through diplomatic means by Vladimir Putin in an effort to find a peaceful resolution with successive Ukrainian post-coup presidents along with the then leaders of Germany and France. These efforts took place in the Belarusian capital of Minsk from 2015 to 2021. In 2021 Zelensky said he was no longer interested in pursuing this diplomatic initiative. His abandonment of diplomacy signified only one thing, he was now ready for war. Since 2014 successive Ukrainian regimes, with the assistance of the western powers had built an enormous series of fortification lines stretching over 1,000 kilometers. Angela Merkel has revealed that this, and the building of the Ukrainian army was why the ruse of diplomacy was employed, not to find peace, but to prepare for war. It must be strongly suspected that managing to eventually draw Russia into a full-scale war with Ukraine was long-planned by the western powers and the Ukrainian regimes. It is also highly likely that the primary nation closely involved in coordinating this plan was the UK.
Vladimir Putin, at the end of 2021 finally saw that there COULD be no diplomatic route to peacefully resolving the situation, that there never had been any such possibility in fact. Russia had been tricked. Putin had been tricked by Merkel in 2015 into falling into this trap. He saw this at the very last moment just as the Ukrainian army began massively increasing its shelling of the civilian population of the Donbass in January and February of 2022. This huge increase in shelling was recorded in the official documentation of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) who had been monitoring the who was shelling who since 2014. Putin saw that time was of the essence and that the Ukrainian regime was planning an onslaught on the Russian-speakers in an attempt to finally regain control and so signed agreements with both republics in the Donbass to defend them. After these agreements were signed he began the Special Military Operation to resolve all factors he had hoped to solve by diplomatic means, by military means instead. However, he called a halt to these almost immediately and called for talks. Subsequent talks between Russia and Ukraine made progress and a peaceful settlement seemed imminent. It was at this moment that Boris Johnson, then British Prime Minister, flew to Kiev and persuaded Zelensky to abandon the peace talks and seek to defeat Russia by military means. There can be no doubt that Johnson spoke for all western powers concerned as well as the UK. Without doubt Johnson told Zelensky that the entire West would fund and arm him and that along with the sanctions against Russia Ukraine would win with Russia weakened, and humbled with its president removed from office, its system of governance undermined and the Russian Federation split up into many parts.
The history above has hopefully made clear why Russia cannot easily trust either the Ukrainians nor its sponsors to be honest brokers but must continue to fight and win on the battlefield to achieve its objectives, objectives which must be achieved to ensure Russia’s continuing sovereignty and the integrity of its borders. This is existential for the Russian Federation. Half measures including agreements that could and, where past performance is concerned, no doubt would be broken, will not do. Russia’s interests are not even taken into consideration by the Ukrainians or their sponsors, so what possible hope is there that a permanent and dependable agreement ensuring Russia’s needs are met could EVER be put in place? No such hope remains. It has become crystal clear to all involved, and in particular to Vladimir Putin, that there is no hope for a diplomatic agreement remaining.
NOT AT ALL.
This leaves only one option for Russia that can and will resolve these matters once and for all where trusting the inherently untrustworthy is not required.
