THE LOSS OF FAITH IN WESTERN LEADERSHIP & ITS DRACONIAN RESPONSE
Until recently we were told how privileged we were in the West to have freedom of thought, belief & speech. Now suddenly due to the West’s proxy war in Ukraine against Russia, these are all at risk.
There is a major crisis between the political leadership of the West and its population. The loss of faith in the integrity of that leadership due to the decisions it made and the actions it took has created a major divide. The lies it told to achieve its war goals have been laid bare for all to see yet it demands complete acceptance of the narratives it promulgates now in respect to the conflict in Ukraine, its view of Vladimir Putin and the Russian Federation. This is what is at the root of the major crisis here in the West. That demand for adherence to the ‘party line’ is being enforced in direct contradiction of previously assured freedoms.
Western politicians have, over many decades, been seen to be untrustworthy. Their reputation, even before the series of illegal regime change wars were instigated, was extremely low. After those wars it virtually flat-lined. Trust was virtually zero except on an absolutely minimal basis on the most elementary of issues. On major aspects of policy cynicism soeared to maximum levels, total mistrust and at times, outright opposition. Now, instead of using reasoned argument which they know will fall of largely deaf ears and deeply cynical views, they are increasingly turning to coercion.
The conflict in Ukraine is THE major flash point and area of existential crisis that is directly now dividing western political elites and their populations to an extent where the entire fabric of everyday life is being affected. Freedoms that western populations have previously been assured were sacrosanct are now being withdrawn. Freedom of speech in particular is under attack from the very elites who previously boasted of their everlasting dedication to maintaining it. Freedom of thought and access to sources delivering independent views not linked to governmental or mainstream sources that lead to that freedom of thought are under attack. Blind acceptance of state narratives is increasingly being demanded instead.
The political leadership of western states, deeply mistrusted due to their known misdeeds of the past are becoming ever more authoritarian in their demands. Now, through their influence over the media in general and their fast increasing levels of influence over social media they are seeking strict obedience to their views. Rather than uphold a previous willingness to accept free access to widely-based, informed analysis and debate, the previous standard boasted of in the West now obedience to their narratives is demanded. This demand for obedience by western political elites is now increasingly being enforced through harsh penalties levied against anyone transgressing by expressing views contradicting theirs.
A recent victim of having his right to everyday necessities of life removed from him quite outside of any aspect of previous norms regarding the law of the land, is Jacques Baud, ex-colonel in the Swiss military. His wikipedia entry demonstrates the new and increasing influence of western state political demands and requirements over how certain people who offer independent views are described.
First the factual data provided on Mr Baud:

‘Between 1983 and 1990, Jacques Baud was a member of the Swiss Strategic Intelligence Service, in charge of the Warsaw Pact forces east of the Iron Curtain and around the world.
In 1995, because of his knowledge of Africa and anti-personnel mines, he was appointed chargé de mission with the United Nations High Commissioner’s Office for refugees in Goma (then in Zaire), as head of security in the Rwandan refugee camps in Zaire, in order to prevent ethnic cleansing. In 1997, he was tasked with founding a project to deal with anti-personnel mines. He was sent as an expert to the Mine Action Service of the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations in New York.
In 2002, he was hired at the Centre for International Security Policy (CPSI) at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, a newly created Swiss institution. In 2005, the United Nations asked him to direct the first multidisciplinary civilian-military intelligence centre (JMAC) of the United Nations Mission in Sudan (Khartoum). In 2009-2011, he was called to New York as Head of Policy and Doctrine at the Office of Military Affairs of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO). He works on civil-military operations, improving operational intelligence, integrating women in peacekeeping operations and protecting civilians. In 2011, he was called by the African Union to head the Research Department[14] of English (IPSTC) in Nairobi (Kenya). At the end of his term of office, he was appointed[15] Chief of Small Arms and Light Weapons and Mine Control of the Political Affairs and Security Policy Division of the NATO in Brussels.’
As you have read, Mr Baud is a man of huge experience who has shouldered many important responsibilities during his career, a man whose views are surely worthy of respect coming as they do from a man who is now retired and able to freely express them. However, this is not how the free expression of his views are viewed. Not at all. As you will see he is now being vilified and all any views he has expressed related in any way to the conflict in Ukraine are to be questioned and framed as due to the influence of others rather than his own honestly expressed, independent views derived from a wealth of personal and professional experience.
Now read how Mr Baud, is referred to an in the initial paragraph of his wikipedia entry:

You will have noted that there are no qualifying terms in the final sentence above regarding ‘disinformation’. It is taken for granted that the state line, that Mr Baud is not merely voicing his considered opinion but is malignly spreading false narratives be taken as fact. This is not a statement based upon anything that has been proven to be the case by any judicial or any other means. It merely accepts the demand of western states that their narratives MUST be accepted as factually based and that anything contradicting their narratives MUST therefore be false and MUST therefore be designated as disinformation.
Mr Baud is now restricted by the most draconian means. He is subject to non-judicial sanction by order of Kaja Kallas of the European Union that takes away almost every right to live a normal life for him including access to income, bank accounts etc. etc.
By such draconian acts evidencing western state demands to be able to manipulate, restrict,control and shut down the free flow of information, we see the destruction of the previously upheld right to be able to think and speak freely within the western world. These rights, once deemed sacrosanct, are now under direct threat as seen above in the case of Mr Baud.
What we believed to be our rights as a free individuals able to think freely and express our views freely are now under severe threat of punishment. If we continue to express ourselves freely based on our accessing the views of others who we respect for providing independent analysis we too can be sanctioned. That the western authorities involved are motivated to cancel and silence anyone in the public domain who commands the respect of large numbers of people across the western world is a sign that if they deem it necessary they will come for the rest of us also.
This is the crisis that all individuals face across the western world who hold their right to think and express themselves freely, and who believe their access to all views on whatever issues they deem important, is vital to their status as free beings. It is a crisis manufactured solely by a western politicl class who have taken the decision to fight an information war against their own citizens. This information war is being waged by them to forward their military war by proxy against the Russian Federation in support of the illegal and undemocratic, post-coup Ukrainian authorities, who took power in 2014.
It appears highly likely that the present restrictions on the free flow of information and the expression of independent analysis and views are only the start of a process whereby we in the West become a controlled population similar to that found in George Orwell’s novel, ‘1984‘. These restrictions are the thin edge of a wedge that, if allowed to grow, must inevitable degrade in a major way any and all freedoms which we still enjoy. There can be no doubt concerning the direction of travel here. It is to clamp down on any thought, view or expression of those thoughts or views that in any way contradict state-asserted “facts” and to enforce these demands of the state on delinquent citizens by force of law or mere diktat.
If we are to live in a truly free West, what was in previous years hailed as , ‘The Free World’, with a ‘Free Press’ and media, we must not relent or curtail our free expression or free access to the information sources of our choice. We must defend and support those targeted by our political elites for punishment for providing us with such vital access and never flinch from expressing our views as far and as wide as we wish. To do otherwise is to descend into a collective prison of state-controlled “truth” where we are TOLD what to believe and denied any possibility to learn otherwise. That is what we now face. And that is what we must reject and oppose with all the resources at our disposal.
