IMMUNITY FROM THE LAW COMES WITH POWER BUT SO DO THE CONSEQUENCES
Donald Trump learned the first part of the lesson above early. Now he uses what he learned every day that passes.
Does he also know however, that power corrupts and that absolute power corrupt absolutely?
Trump has supported the exercise of power and the immunity it can bring when backed by U.S. power in the genocide being mercilessly carried out by Israel.
Exercising power over the weak is the policy of monsters and always has been. Trump and Netanyahu are both currently showing just how monstrous those in power can be in the exercise of it.
Those who use their power in the criminal way Trump and Netanyahu do don’t much care about the consequences of their actions other than the fulfillment of their narrow desire in each case. Their personalities don’t permit this kind of introspection. They are used to demanding and getting their way no matter how this affects others and that is solely where their interests lie. Building consensus and using diplomatic and fair means to achieve their objectives is alien to them.
These two are simply long corrupted individuals who began their criminal careers a very long time ago. They consider that everyone is corrupted at this stage in their careers. They believe everyone is just as criminal, cynical and corrupt as they are. This is how they justify acting as they do. For them any act that gets them what they want is justified. And knowing, in Netanyahu’s case that he has the backing of not only Trump but the entirety of the political leadership of the West, he can act with impunity. Trump, knowing that the USA remains the most powerful force able to do harm to the economic interests of all other nations by either economic or military means, acts with impunity too.
What is the example the world is being shown here? That there are no rules that the exercise of untrammeled power cannot overrule and override. That such criminal disregard for rules, regulations and laws designed to maintain civilized behavior is acceptable. That those who can wield power should wield it and to their advantage, unworried by any negative effect upon others. In short that criminality of this kind pays dividends and that this alone justifies it. And to hell with the consequences, to hell with fairness, to what’s right, just and the better, safer, more civilized.
When power is wielded in the way we see Netanyahu and Trump wielding it, it sickens our world, it degrades all efforts in creating rules to civilize it and to encourage people to work together under its laws. We all know how the red in tooth and claw laws of the jungle work, anyone who knows a little of world history knows what happens when criminal warlords act with impunity. The hard work of those seeking selflessly to better the lives of all of us is destroyed in the process. Law falls into disrepute and disuse as trust between nations decays, genuine cooperation fails when a master-slave relationship prevails through the use of force exercised by the criminal use of power.
The whole world loses just so these two criminals seek to gain.
This is the ultimate tragic consequence that Netanyahu and Trump, in their criminal abuse of power, completely disregard. They are two sociopaths doing what all sociopaths do, pursuing power over others regardless of anything other than achieving what they want and at whatever cost is borne by those others. This is what their twisted and psychotic mentalities demand. And this is what the world, at all costs, must protest, resist, and defeat.
A SONG FOR GAZA
#FROMTHERIVERTOTHESEA #FREEFREEPALESTINE
The dust settles hard on the concrete teeth
Of a skyline ground to a jagged reef
Two men standing with their palms turned red
Counting the cost of the words they said
The heavy oil of the western night
Leaks through the cracks of the dying light
Gaza is a ribcage stripped and bare
Under the weight of a sulfurous air
They wear the suits of a hollow state
Feeding the furnace of ancient hate
One looks south with a wall in his eyes
One looks down where the rubble lies
Their fingers drip with a thick dark rain
Flowing from veins of the scorched terrain
The earth is coughing up iron and stone
A throne built high on a marrow bone
There is no water to wash away the stain
No silent prayer to dull the racking pain
The ink they use is drawn from open wounds
While history hums its old and bitter tunes
They stand tall amidst the wreckage and the rust
Turning a thousand summers into dust
The crimson mark is burning through the skin
Where the hunger ends and the debts begin
Behind the curtain of the smoking gray
The specters rise in a cold array
Venezuelan shadows thin and deep
Waking from a hunger-haunted sleep
Iranian ghosts with their eyes like coals
Carrying the weight of their stolen souls
They do not scream and they do not cry
They just watch the masters of the lie
The Palestinian children walk in line
Through the broken orchards of the vine
They carry the keys to doors blown wide
With nowhere left for a heart to hide
The two men smile for the lens and flame
Playing a lethal and ledgered game
But the floorboards groan with the weight of the dead
And the sky overhead is a bruised dark lead
There is no water to wash away the stain
No silent prayer to dull the racking pain
The ink they use is drawn from open wounds
While history hums its old and bitter tunes
They stand tall amidst the wreckage and the rust
Turning a thousand summers into dust
The crimson mark is burning through the skin
Where the hunger ends and the debts begin
There is no water to wash away the stain
No silent prayer to dull the racking pain
The ink they use is drawn from open wounds
While history hums its old and bitter tunes
They stand tall amidst the wreckage and the rust
Turning a thousand summers into dust
The crimson mark is burning through the skin
Where the hunger ends and the debts begin.
