THE PLAN: TO STEP ON *EVERYONE’S* TOES?
As everyone knows by now a new Ukrainian peace plan is in discussion through what appears to be a highly messy, angst-ridden and contentious process.
The plan, apparently put together for the most part in the USA, in its original form, though not as yet officially released, contained 28 steps.
Once the Europeans and UK combed through it with members of the Ukrainian regime in Geneva they denounced it as unacceptable and produced their own version of the plan, whittled down to 19 steps.
Of course the UK-EU 19-step plan is completely unacceptable to the Russians who say they have received no official delivery of any plan to date.
In the next chapter of this step-by-step saga the Americans will meet with the Russians in Abu Dhabi where presumably they will finally receive the original plan or some form of it.
There are apparently quite a number of variations of these stepping stones to peace, in addition to the two we know of and hear most about. Russia has not officially received any of them yet. This has caused Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson Peskov to talk of the entire process being a “mess” and in “chaos”, and that Russia will not step into it by engaging in “megaphone diplomacy” as others are doing.
Meanwhile in the USA, a group of U.S. senators met with Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Mark Rubio and later denounced the original plan saying it was the work of the Russians. They claim Rubio told them this, something he only hours later, vehemently denied.
To say the various steps taken in this process have been amateurish and decidedly messy is to be overly generous. The whole thing has been a debacle from the very first leak when half a dozen of the steps were disclosed, most likely by Trump’s Ukraine envoy, General Keith Kellogg. (Who we are told will be leaving his position in January.)
Before long Kaja Kallas and Ursula von der Leyen will no doubt step in and do their own best to kick this latest “peace” plan to death… or at least into the long grass.
One more step forward toward peace... and two steps back?

Each day that passes makes a conclusive Russian victory in the Donbass and beyond more certain. As Russia bolsters her forces, and weaponry, those of Ukraine decrease. Russian forces gain ready access to rest and recuperation as troop numbers increase. The increasingly exhausted and demoralized Ukrainian troops have an ever decreasing prospect of such respite. This situation will bring them to complete breakdown as Russia unleashes the firepower of the more modern and advanced weaponry that is arriving along with the newly mobilized Russian troops.
The various Ukrainian offensives are now weak when confronted by the reinforced Russian lines. A few futile efforts achieve miserable results before fire reigns down on the Ukrainian troops and they are forced back to their original positions and beyond.
And now we have arrived at the wet, and later, freezing conditions where the Ukrainian forces will be subject to myriad forms of abject misery, with death and injury all around them while they lie sodden or frozen, abandoned to their fate by Kiev.
We must feel for the majority of Ukrainian troops as they are, in most part now, not of the Nazi-mentality deserving of revulsion, in most part decent men, fathers, sons, brothers, husband and uncles, who no doubt saw through the coup of 2014 for what it was. But sadly, their fate for now appears sealed, condemned to death by the political and media elites of the West.
Nothing will stop Russia now. Every factor favors them. Victory will be Russia’s. In Donbass and by reputation and respect gained, across the entire world.
