RUNNING UPDATES ON THE CONFLICT IN UKRAINE - 01.09.2022
RT witnesses UN nuclear experts’ work at Ukraine power plant (VIDEO)
International experts have arrived at the Zaporozhye facility amid new escalation.
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts have begun inspecting the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, according to an RT reporter at the facility.
The inspectors arrived on Thursday, soon after reports emerged of renewed artillery fire and fierce combat in the vicinity of the plant.
Russia and Ukraine have accused each other off firing shells and missiles dangerously close to reactors and other crucial infrastructure.
“Rafael Grossi and the staff of the Zaporozhye plant are currently inspecting the location where the shells from Ukrainian artillery fell today,” RT’s Alexey Repin reports.
“It wasn’t part of the initial program, but the plans are changing in real time. For example, it was expected that the IAEA team would be traveling across the plant by cars, but, as we are seeing, they prefer to walk,” he says.
Europe’s biggest nuclear plant was seized by Russian troops shortly after Moscow launched a military operation in the neighboring country in late February. Several hours before the IAEA team’s arrival, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that its forces had repelled a Ukrainian attempt to recapture the facility.
International inspectors are tasked with examining the general condition of the plant and assessing the damage to its facilities.

Russia Claims Repelled Ukraine Commando Attack Zaporozhie NPP; Ukraine Fails to Advance in Kherson

UKRAINIAN FORCES APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN PUSHED BACK WITH HEAVY LOSSES
The so-called Kherson counter-offensive by Ukraine appears to have become an extremely expensive mission that has all the hallmarks of a PR campaign aimed at its sponsors.
Those sponsors meet on the 8th of this month to decide to what degree they will continue to support a Ukrainian regime that is clearly losing the conflict against Russia, is unable to mount any truly worthwhile resistance and that currently is looking at its defensive lines crumbling.
Throwing ever more cannon-fodder recruits frog-marched into the Ukrainian military with extremely limited training and having to draw on men up to the age of seventy, is clearly not a good look likely to impress Ukraine’s sponsors.
Today UN inspectors arrived at Europe’s largest nuclear power plant that Ukrainian forces have been recklessly attacking using artillery for over a week now. An attempt was made, also today, to attack and occupy the plan by Ukrainian commandos using inflatable craft to cross the Dniepr river. It appears the Russian military either spotted them or were forewarned of their appearance.
At any rate, this force of commandos were either blown out of the water or eliminated on land with several being taken into captivity.
The indications are that no matter what the Ukrainian regime does now it will remain helpless in the face of the vastly superior land and air power including huge superiority regarding artillery, of the Russian military and that its final capitulation can only be a month or so away, if that.

ZAPORIZHZHIA POWER PLANT TAKEOVER BID BY UKRAINIAN COMMANDOS (POSTED 10 HOURS PREVIOUS TO ABOVE UPDATES)
According to the latest report from Dima of the 'Military Summary' channel Ukrainian commandos have managed to cross over the Dnipro river in several boats to the town beside the Zaporizhzhia power plant.
In his report of three hours ago he related that Russian forces are attempting to eliminate the threat from this force.
The plan, as far as can be ascertained, at least according to Dima, is to get into the plant and take the UN inspectors hostage. He appeared to suggest that this was pre-planned with the connivance of UN officials to arrange a situation where propaganda could be instigated and also to deny Russia the chance to reoccupy the plant.
There are reports now, apparently from the Russian Military Defense that this Ukrainian commando force has now been eliminated.

THIS IS THE MOST CRUCIAL MOMENT IN RUSSIA'S SMO
I strongly suspect that the military intelligence and strategic expertise of the USA and UK is vitally active now in this stage of the conflict if this has not been the case all along.
This is of course a war between the entire collective West and Russia and is approaching the final months of its existence. This will be focusing minds tremendously on both sides now.
Russia has the upper hand as the Ukrainian defence line appears ready to be fully cracked open at any moment. I would suggest therefore that while facing down the Ukrainian counteroffensive Russia should bring its reserve forces into play immediately and do all necessary to make the final breakthrough in the Donbass and so put the Ukrainian regime, military and their sponsors on the back foot once more.
This being done Ukraine and its controllers will be forced to rethink and attention will be diverted to responding to renewed and for them very dangerous advances. If Russia can then push hard with all resources available the final end game and resulting total capitulation of the Kiev coup regime can be achieved.
WHO ARE THE CONTROLLERS, DATA-GATHERERS & TACTICIANS GUIDING THE UKRAINIANS NOW?
It is clear that the ones who would be most usefully calling the shots regarding Ukrainian tactics would be military intelligence in the West, primarily in the USA and UK. This makes most sense for the Ukrainians and the most likely scenario, despite rumours that zElensky is insisting on controlling things.
I am sure that both the USA and UK are using a very high percentage of their intelligence-gathering capabilities, backroom staff and most senior military tacticians to both monitor the battlefield in precise detail via satellite and all other forms of data collection and so are more than able to direct tactics to maximum effect.
If the Ukrainian high command are insisting on making decisions either based on their own much cruder methodologies and thought-processes or on the whims of zElensky then this would be the ideal scenario for Russia. But I am minded to believe that current tactics are being guided by more expert minds and this could be very dangerous indeed for Russia.
THE YOUNG ENEMY WITHIN RESIDING IN MOSCOW & ST. PETERSBURG
In recent times I have met and talked with three unrelated young Russians who would love to see Putin and those within his close circle and indeed the entire Russian political system undermined and replaced. They are extremely naive in their hopes for some magical and wonderful difference to their lives if they can only get rid of what they see as 'the old guard'. As someone of advanced years I always remind them of the old adage, 'Be careful what you wish for".
I suspect they hardly spare a thought to the chaos in political circles in Russia that would ensue if they had their wish. Money and the ability to wield power for their own and for its own sake, rather than for the benefit to Russians, would motivate most of those vying for the top positions. The struggle between the oligarchs and the Russian mafia would be titanic and cause utmost misery in my view.
Hopefully the advent of this new mindless world that many young Russians have become seduced by won't prevail and the current very solidly patriotic and Russia-beneficial leadership continues to hold the trust of most Russians. However, as we saw when the Warsaw Pact nations were undermined it was by the metropolitan minority who, with largely self-interested motivations prevailed. I just hope against hope that the present large minority of such people in Moscow and St Petersburg don't initiate something similar, with the active support of the leadership and state entities of the collective West of course.
