THE HOMEGROWN PERMANENCE OF EVERGREEN U.S. IDIOCY

In a fast moving, ever-changing world certain things never seem to alter. They persist and exist as reliably as perennial blooms. One regular and predictable feature of existence is the consistent stupidity, perpetual ignorance and vicious arrogance of successive U.S. governments.

Though their presidents morph from 3rd rate actors such as Reagan to brick in the mouth imbeciles like Bush Junior to dumbo sport types like Ford to sociopath thugs like Trump and finally to a geriatric maniac such as Biden... the backdrop always stays the same.

The backdrop that tends to drip blood and brain tissue, stained with tears and sullied by U.S. military spit.

If you live long enough you will see a parade of changing faces in front of that permanent backdrop. When you do it’s best to turn off the volume on your set. Watch the next puppet mouth a variation on the same old theme. He or she is here to bring freedom, democracy and western liberal values to the world... and bomb the living shit out of you if you refuse the offer.

There will be many smiles, hand gestures thoroughly rehearsed to convey gentle power and compassion for all. There will be grave assurances with furrowed brow, a sincere narrowing of the eyes when an important lie is being told that is extremely important you believe.

All the while that backdrop will wave gently in some breeze generated by a nearby explosion. Some sand may blow by, perhaps a dismembered foot or part of a child’s cranium may soar briefly far above the latest goon’s carefully arranged hair.

Of course this is the imaginary backdrop seen whenever as American politician speaks of change. Oh yes, WE CAN. We always CAN. But we never do.

You can RELY on that. Take it to the BANK. The bank where the latest liar gets his or her support. There and at the kindhearted killers of Raytheon or their ever-smiling partners in war crime.

You can TRULY rely on that.

It’s the only way this freak show can operate within the evil circus that is American politics.

This is yet another permanent feature of the good old oh-so-democratic USA. No money no show. No sponsors no dough. You get the politicians and presidents you pay for, and guess who pays?

How many banks can you name on Wall Street? How many so-called defense companies.

That’s who. Of course that’s who. And...

Those who pay the piper calls the tune.

In the words of a hit song of long ago, that’s “just the way it is”.

And the way it is, is the permanent way it is...

No matter if the latest clown is offering more cash or less war, more hope, free dope, a great America, a fatter wallet, a leaner state, more war or a better job, the permanent state of things mean you get shafted. One way or another. That is your entitlement as a card-carrying American.

Shafted better and more often than anywhere else across the whole wide world.

But keep saying you're the biggest, best, most exceptional and successful, free-est, healthiest, finest fucking country in the entire universe... and scream God Bless America as an encore.

For that too is the permanent, unchanging feature of a nation that seems to be simply incapable of looking itself in the eye. But ever instead chooses to look for their enemies 'over there’ when they are right there at home, totally homegrown, as green and as perennial as ever.
