George Orwell's world in his novel '1984' is one we can now recognize living in. Better known as the western world, it has become run by barefaced liars who seek only obedience, never objectivity.
We have arrived in 1984. Barefaced lies by the state are an everyday occurrence. The truth is what Mark Rutte of NATO, or Keir Starmer, Emmanuel Macron or Friedrich Merz says it is. Or of course what their mouthpiece media says it is. Mass media have fallen in line as obedient stenographers of state narratives that consist of a pack of lies. A state spokesperson calls for them to jump and the only answer in response is always, “How high?” We have traveled ever deeper down the path to slavish acceptance of whatever degree of lie the state wishes to condition us with. The Sheeple accept whatever they are told. We have arrived in Orwell’s world.
The prime example of the acceptance of fiction over fact was the recent attempt to overthrow the Iranian leadership through the use of heavily-armed subversives led by Israeli intelligence agents. This well-organized terrorist force attacked a massive number of civilian targets, infrastructure, facilities and vitally necessary assets, in random, ultra-violent attacks that bore no resemblance whatsoever to peaceful protests. This was a carefully planned subversive attack designed to wreak havoc, death and destruction across Iran and destroy all state authority there. In the West this was portrayed as some kind of noble pursuit of “freedom” by peaceful protesters. Such are the barefaced lies being told to us now.
The same barefaced lies were told concerning the ultra-violent insurrectionist rioters, arsonists, looters and common criminals who, with the assistance of western political elites, brought down the democratically-elected president and government of Ukraine in 2014. We were told that those who had killed around 15 young policemen by setting fire to them with Molotov Cocktails, shooting them with hunting rifles and hand guns, beating them to death with clubs and battering them with bricks and heavy chains... that these were “peaceful protesters”. These lies began an entire chain of untruths, of obvious propaganda, misinformation, disinformation and every possible distortion and obfuscation of reality by all western state institutions and media.
The entire edifice of western elite probity where we are encouraged to believe western state institutions and its elites are “the good guys”, the honest brokers and seekers after peace is a lie. A barefaced, and when you confront the history of such people and their actions, an obvious, lie. For decade after decade since the end of WWII the politicians of the West have fomented one self-interested criminal intervention after another. Millions have died at their blood-soaked hands. While their dirty work is done for them by their criminal intelligence agencies through covert operations designed to subvert governments, government agencies and elected officials and ultimately, by their armies, every word coming out of their mouths is designed to deceive.
There was a time when the print media news and at times television news provided reasonably accurate reports and analysis of western elite wars. During the latter stages of the Vietnam War this was particularly the case. In more recent times the western leadership found effective ways to gag reporters inclined to deliver factual coverage. While this was being done the media agencies themselves were self-censoring, sacking journalists who insisted on reporting accurately and replacing them with obedient hacks who would report the “correct” narratives as required by their paymasters. Thus we had the completely false reporting on every regime change war of recent times, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria chief among them. And now, from start to whenever it finishes, the Ukraine War. Barefaced lies on a daily basis.
These are the days of cancellation. Say the wrong things, the truths that western states or institutions don’t want told... and you can be made a non-person, stripped of almost every right needed to live a normal life. A recent case is that of Jacques Baud, ex-colonel in the Swiss Strategic Intelligence Service, someone who served as a policy chief for United Nations Peace Operations and as an adviser to NATO on Ukraine. Jacques Baud is an extremely well-respected analyst who’s appearances on various YouTube interview channels has been extremely well received. Mr Baud is the author of several books and is highly admired for his independent views and deep insight into military matters. He has recently been put under draconian sanctions by the EU which limit his movement and ability to live and pay his way to the excruciating maximum. They are, in effect, attempting to turn Jacques Baud into what Orwell’s names an ‘unperson’ in his book ‘1984’.
