TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME
Are those who criticize Donald Trump suffering from a syndrome that makes their view of him deranged? Or is it in fact Donald Trump who, acting increasingly strangely, is more deserving of this term?
Jan 10, 2026
The concept behind Trump derangement Syndrome is that if you donât like Donald Trump and feel compelled to criticize him then there is something wrong with YOU. Trump, from the perspective of those who coined this supposed condition and those who accuse others of suffering from it, is a near perfect individual who almost has a sacred right to be beyond criticism. This notion is similar in origin to that of the condition of anti-Semitism being ascribed to anyone who dares criticize the Israeli government for committing acts of genocide.
You have to wonder whether those who attack critics of Donald Trump using this term continue to have the faith in it now that they did when it was first coined back in his first term of office. Back then there was some reason to believe that their hero meant everything he said, such as that he would put an end to the forever wars, the regime change wars that Bush, Obama and Biden had either initiated or failed to end. What do such zealots in the name of Trump think now after his illegal attack upon Venezuela and abduction of its president? Are they minded to criticize their great leader for this, or more likely are they finding it much easier to hypercritically have a character change themselves and get behind his new âWar is Good!â stance?
It surely must be becoming clear to at least some Trump acolytes that most of the derangement seen emanates from Trump himself. Can it have escaped all his devoted fans that he switches from one stance to another, lies constantly and manifests any number of behavioral peculiarities? This supposed man of peace renames the Department of Defense to The Department of War. Does this not raise even the slightest suspicion in the mind of the Trump cultists or can they find a way to rationalize this behavior so that it suits the fixed opinion of him they have so deeply entrenched in their minds? Most likely the latter case is true for such deranged believers in this deeply deranged man.
Wishing to take Greenland into U.S. ownership, pushing for Canada to become the 51st state, attacking Venezuela leaving over 100 dead, abducting its president and calling Venezuelan oil âour oilâ is all perfectly fine and dandy with some apparently. In fact many are beating their chests and emitting war cries in enthusiastic calls for more such acts of aggression. Nothing deranged about all this of course, all perfectly normal to some, only those who criticize any of this are âout of lineâ needing shunned and made to shut up. All part of Trumpâs brilliant, Einsteinian ability to play 4D Geopolitical Chess. For many perhaps, any potential anomaly in Trumpâs behavior is similar to events they manage to brush away that donât fit their assertion of a perfect god, saying that their deity âworks in mysterious waysâ.
Trump can hold one opinion today and before very long hold a directly opposing opinion. You may say that most sensible people will change their opinion depending on new data. This is true, but Trump is talking of major issues and when he flips from one side to another on them he often claims he never held the previous opinion. Watch the following video which shows him doing precisely this:
Trump works in mysterious ways, true... but it must strongly be suspected not to a trained psychologist or psychiatrist. Since his first term many have called for Trump to be psychiatrically examined. Those both inside and outside mental health disciplines have offered a variety of descriptions and terminology to explain Trumpâs erratically abnormal behavior.
AI Overview
Over the years, various mental health professionals, commentators, and political figures have speculated on Donald Trumpâs psychological state, attributing several illnesses and personality disorders to him based on his public behavior.
It is important to note that the American Psychiatric Associationâs Goldwater Rule prohibits members from providing formal diagnoses of public figures without a personal examination and informed consent. Consequently, the following are âarmchair diagnosesâ or observations rather than official medical findings.
Frequently Attributed Conditions
Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD): This is the most common attribution. Experts have pointed to traits such as grandiosity, a constant need for admiration, and a lack of empathy as evidence.
Malignant Narcissism: Many professionalsâincluding over 200 who signed an open letter in late 2024âargue Trump exhibits this specialized form of narcissism, which includes a combination of NPD, antisocial behavior, paranoia, and sadism.
Cognitive Decline and Dementia: Speculation regarding âincipient dementiaâ or Alzheimerâs has persisted for years, often cited after instances of slurred speech, repetitive storytelling, or perceived confusion during rallies.
Antisocial Personality Disorder: Some clinicians claim Trumpâs disregard for social norms, repeated lying, and impulsivity align with this diagnosis.
Paranoid Personality Disorder: This has been suggested due to his frequent claims of being targeted by âwitch huntsâ and deep-state conspiracies.
Notable Collections of Expert Opinions
âThe Dangerous Case of Donald Trumpâ: A 2017 book featuring essays from 27 psychiatrists and mental health experts who argued that Trumpâs mental health posed a âclear and present dangerâ to the nation.
Duty to Warn: An organization of mental health professionals founded on the belief that they have an ethical obligation to warn the public about what they perceive as Trumpâs dangerous mental state.
So, who is deranged exactly?
Are those who find Trumpâs behavior odd at the very least, and downright dangerous at worst? Are they the ones who are deranged?
Is it Trumpâs MAGA base, who support him right or wrong? Is it they who are deranged?
Or, like those directly above, is it Trump himself... noted to be increasingly erratic in now daily contradicting himself and his previous policies?
