WESTERN DEMOCRATIC FAILURE vs. EASTERN POLITICAL SUCCESS
A sizeable number of those living in the western world are in revolt. Their leaders have lost their trust and the reputation of politicians is now at an all time low.
As the two groups, politicians and people, have become estranged in the West so the level of mistrust has grown to present levels where the advice of the governing elites is viewed with great suspicion.
This can be seen each day that passes where advice on Covid-19 emergency procedures and vaccines by politicians along with their selected scientists, is greeted by enormous skepticism and often, fierce resistance.
If the democratic process is so effective and the people choose their own politicians from those offered, the people ought to be governed by the politicians who deliver what the people want, no?
Somehow this formula doesn’t deliver the desired result that is claimed for it, does it?
Whereas, if we look at a very different system, that of China where democracy plays little if any part in the western sense, polls repeatedly show (a Harvard poll among them) that the Chinese people are highly satisfied with the performance of their political class.
As Mr Spock of Star Trek fame might say to Captain Kirk, “This is not logical.”
In theory the Chinese people ought to be miserable due to politicians who can’t be thrown out of office being so lazy and incompetent that everything goes to hell.
But this is not the case.
The successive presidents, governments, governing bodies and planners within the Chinese Communist Party have delivered a near perfect combination of state planning and individual entrepreneurship that has brought one hundred million out of abject poverty over the past thirty years.
What have we seen in the West over these same thirty years?
Crisis after crisis with citizens in open revolt against their figures of authority, a catastrophic financial collapse with the loss of homes, health care and livelihoods, stagnant wages, tent cities, protest and riot bringing violence onto the street, unhealthy populations, killer cops and a series of foreign wars based on lies killing hundreds of thousands and fragmenting entire regions of the Middle East.
In Russia there has been a gradual movement toward democracy since the anarchic and chaotic Yeltsin years when it was seen as the fiefdom of western expertise. The Yeltsin years saw life expectancy drop by as much as ten years. Societal safety nets went into free fall while at the same time criminality at all levels soared with the mafia taking ever greater control and oligarchs seeing their chance to use their money to use the new semi-democratic system to gain absolute control of the nation.
Fortunately Vladimir Putin almost single-handedly stood in the way of both mafia and oligarchy taking over, resisted the exploitation of the country by the West, insisted taxes were paid in full by the richest and resolved the war in Chechnya which threatened Russia’s population with endless terrorism. He also moved the political system of Russia ever further toward a fully democratic system. Russia progressively moved toward ever greater successes in a remarkably short period of time with Putin at the helm. It is extremely unlikely that any other leader could have achieved anything like his success and much more likely that Russia would instead have plunged into an ungovernable, criminal chaos.
Yet the politicians of the West who are intensely and perpetually disliked by their citizens point at the highly successful leaders of Russia and China as targets for overthrow.
How are we to make sense of this?
Russia’s democratic system is clearly working. This is evidenced by its quite incredible performance led by Vladimir Putin over the last twenty years. Russia has been transformed. There is much yet to do, however anyone who knows how Russia was in the year 2000 when Putin took over as president and how Russia is now knows what an incredible transformation has taken place.
Meanwhile, in contrast to both Russia and China, in the West infrastructure is crumbling, standards of living are falling, joblessness and homelessness are rising, people are dissatisfied, frustrated, stressed and many are in a mental state where mistrust and revolt are evident only requiring to be ignited by the next political failure to deliver even basic requirements. The Covid-19 pandemic has seen mistrust and public anger infest the western world moving it toward a point of total ungovernability.
What exactly have western governments done for their citizens lately?
They have rained bombs and missiles down on successive Middle Eastern nations with hundreds of thousands dead and helped cover up the crimes and atrocities of other governments doing the same.
Do such governments deserve any respect?
They have covered up their crimes using barefaced lies and a mainstream media that acts as its official stenographer, complicit in distributing these lies to their readers and listeners.
Are such governments not criminal entities?
They have infected their nations with propaganda and silenced the voices of target nations, constantly slandering their leaders and accusing them of crimes perpetrated by themselves.
Shouldn’t such governments be exposed by their people?
They have told lies, half-truths and spread disinformation to enable them to destroy entire nations killing hundreds of thousands in the process with interminable wars.
Why were the ministers of these governments not prosecuted?
What example do western governments give when they follow a legacy of repeated genocide, slavery, colonialism and cynically ruthless exploitation?
How do they get to point fingers at others after that?
When western governments create surveillance systems that pry potentially into every home and prosecute any whistleblowers exposing such criminal acts who truly is the criminal?
How do they get away with this?
When western governments know that their military personnel have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Middle East during their illegal wars of choice and prosecute those exposing them, again, who is truly the criminal?
Where is justice to be found in this?
When western governments seek to slander leaders of other nations incessantly when they are guilty of every crime they perpetrate on an almost daily basis why should they be considered valid representatives of the people?
Clearly this shakes public confidence in them.
Why is the western world engulfed in division, debt, frustration, disappointment and a deep-seated chaos of lost confidence in its political class that refuses to go away, while government ministers refuse to be held accountable?
Is it not clear that the western political class and its so-called democratic system (often simply a front for corporate control) falls far short of and is in fact inferior to the systems of both Russia and China which enjoy extremely high levels of public trust?
