How on earth did we end up in this situation, whereby diplomacy is not an art anymore but…….” distasteful, and perhaps seen as defeatist”?

My thoughts on this are that a decision was made at the highest level in the USA and agreed upon by all its allies that there was no room for diplomacy, that it would only delay the end result they had sworn to achieve, to destroy the economies and political structures of both Russia and China and be able then to return the global reality of a unipolar world run by themselves.
